  1. not sure about the footy, but the rest made some sense
  2. Oh I hope it is not a repeat of 2012, and we do "finally" get something warmer (and dryer) this summer/autumn
  3. Models may show one thing, but what we get seems to still remain the "un-wanted" type, really hoping the LR showing of things maybe improving make manifest, and soon.
  4. Mine is on (well a fan heater anyway as I have storage units), and it feels cold again, I used to live in a mid terraced house and that was easy to warm in winter and keep cool in summer, then moved to an end terraced, that was a bit harder to keep the climate even, then moved to a top floor flat, warm in winter but also warm in summer. Now in a semi and it just seems to stay cool without help all the while (it does get warm in summer but takes its time getting there), I suspect it is due to being a modern build (like the flat), seems you cannot beat better, older brick and build quality.
  5. why-oh-why did you go and do that! now I know that, I am fully expecting a series of twisters to pass through the area followed by apocalyptic falls of ice and snow. (best fire up the heater then)
  6. poo, cold and wet here today/evening. looks like an evening with the heater on then.
  7. It is a coat on, coat off day again, gets cool when the showers come over then warms quickly when the sun pokes its head out. Stopping in now till tomorrow so it can do what it likes out there, i'm having another art day indoors.
  8. I often walk areas of the Nene Valley and over the last couple of years have noticed a drop in waterfowl overall, not just over wintering ones, on the up side there seems to be a lot more swans though. BBC did an interesting article on why some of our winter birds are no longer visiting the UK http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-22484907 Also have to agree on the missing hedgehogs, used to get plenty making a visit to the garden, not seen one in over a year. We do have an urban fox that walks the street in the small hours though.
  9. "he's had *cow* burger! let's get us a cow" *TRACTOR (really?) beam on*
  10. Mine is on now, it has dropped below 10oC outside and only 15oC inside (which whilst not "cold" is still not fantastic)
  11. that is a good call IMHO, the heat reflection change due to the snow/ice melt would be a factor yes.
  12. Page 8 "Key findings" is interesting as it seems to indicate the NH is warming overall far more than the SH. Wonder if this is due to landmass vs seamass? or is it a corelation(sp?) to global tilt against solar intervention? as I expect the man made "toxins" that are made plaudid as a warming "cause" would still get plenty of circulation in their respective hemispheres.
  13. poo weather here, wet, windy and a lot cooler than of late. Fence is "far too mobile" for my liking, so expect that to be buggered by morning
  14. After a dry and sunny start (I even put the washing out), it has been a sunshine and showers (some quite heavy) day here (washing still out). Back door open again and warm fresh air flooding in
  15. Hi GW So as to explain my post, it was originally in the "are we entering a new mini ice-age" thread, but got moved for being deemed "climate related", though I find it difficult to explain/discuss the question originally posed without making any references to climate, but that aside, yes I too tend to rather see the bigger picture, short term climate data study will show you short term results, expanding that historically will show that, as a whole, the global climate has "shifted" a few times, due to many historically recorded reasons. I think it is hard for anyone to give a definitive answer to climate direction as we do not really have one, like you said, there are clues in the historical records, but then as now climate as a whole is quite fluid in its direction, so some places get warmer or dryer, others will get colder or wetter, the overall whole remains almost the same, the displacment is what changes what goes where. Not sure if this rambling nonsense makes any sense to you (it does in here with the other voices, but we argue a lot), trying to articulate my thoughts can sometimes take a while and further explaining over time.
  16. I think ( I do not do that aften as it causes blinding headaches and odd flashes of supposed light and bright spots ) that we are just in another "phase" of climate fluctuation, not man made, not GW, but caused by natural cycles in climate and internal/external cycle influences, be it solar etc. Why do I think that? well records "made" are patchy and dependant on the recorders choices of instruments and methods over time, to get a "good" picture you would need decent and confirmed data, much of the older data is IMHO patchy on its ability to be accurate to a +- variable. Something else is local history, here for example in Roman times on south facing slopes of the near by valley were populated as vine yards, that would indicate is was possibly warmer then than it is now. That would indicate it is getting cooler from a "historical" perspective, but other reports say we are warmer now than then? and getting warmer? Population globally then to now has a "significant" difference, so reports that humankind is "warming" the climate may not hold weight if that assumption is taken. Then you have reports where patches of the globe appear cooler, yet others are showing as warmer. Is this just climate "shift" rather than change? We *do* have historial records that show climate then to be different to now, so that IMHO makes more sense.
  17. Another warm and bright sunny day here Just a shame the "warmth" leaks out rather quickly in the evening.
  18. Aww thank you CM, was one of my last "little critters", that was very freindly and very tame which whilst small had developed quite a character.
  19. My condolences to you, as I have posted elsewhere, I too lost one of my furry friends in the last few days and it does hurt. They are part of the family what ever they are, big, small, furry, feathered, scaled whatever and when they go they are missed. Remembering the good times and memories is how I cope.
  20. Think there was a plug-able for GIMP but not able to recall the details for it (it is all free).
  21. And on que I was just thinking I need to nip out to ye olde shoppe and it tips it down.
