  1. Does anyone know that website where it gives you a comparison of today's sun strength vs another day in the year? For or example it'll say: today's sun us equivalent to September 31st
  2. Sunny again today! There's only been one day out of 5 where it's been cloudy this week, and even then we managed some sunny spells. Long may it last. All the way to September please!!!!!!!
  3. Perfect day today. Wall to wall sunshine, little to no wind and temperatures around 12/13C. Dropped off quickly around 3pm though. Cool and cloudy now.
  4. There's still more darkness than there is daylight at the minute here. It's not until the 18th that the daylight surpasses with just over 12 hours of light.
  5. Around April is when I begin to see a slight change. Nothing really though until May. But it's nice that winter is finally losing its grip
  6. It's that time of year again folks where I've been keeping a strong eye on the UV forecasts. The first moderate UV index was actually in February in the Scilly Isles, but for quantifiable data, I only use mainland Britain for this thread each year, and this year is no exception, using Hayle in Cornwall as my chosen location. As usual using UVAwareness, we can see the first moderate UV indexes appearing on March 10th, 4 days earlier than last year. Generally when they hit moderate it increases very fast. So this is the first step towards summer. Let us pray it's a long, dry, hot, sunny one!
  7. Fun today venturing up the tops We even got over Snake Pass despite the road being closed. Not once, even at 550m though did the temperature drop below 1C. It did however briefly drop to 0C up the Cat & Fiddle on the way back. Plenty of pics and videos. Not sure if I can be bothered to upload them all, but it was worth almost getting stuck at the top of Snake's Pass, just for the videos we got. Brilliant day
  8. Gonna venture to Buxton to meet @KasimWeatherQuarnfordThis should be fun
  9. Can anyone tell me if the Pennines are passable? Debating going walking up there
  10. The heavy stuff has arrived. It's now white outside. Better.
  11. Wind is westerly. Mixing out uppers and surface temps snowing here, it's not sticking.
  12. Mateeeeee, that's about 0.25cm, not 2.5cm, sorry
  13. Pics? 2.5cm 2 miles up the road seems unlikely when it's not sticking here
  14. Snowing but it's extremely wet. It won't stick.
  15. Squall line just went through here. Was walking in it, painful!
  16. Pressure isn't high enough. There's no cap. The sun is strong enough to create convective cloud, it won't remain sunny all day. What a shame! Just means that Spring is almost here!
  17. Looks like becoming colder with snow for some from mid-week well into the foreseeable future. Excellent news, finally.
  18. Hovering around -2C. Still not cold. Was in shorts earlier.
  19. Yes indeed! The time will soon come when I start my yearly 'UK Tanning Season' thread . It's roughly 4-5 weeks until we start to see the first moderate UV indexes of the year appear in the South West. This is exciting! The sun was lovely when I was driving to work this morning at 7:50am. It's most noticeable when we have blue skies, it's a shame they're not present more often; there's been a real lack of anti-cyclonic spells for some time now. So I'm hoping they're saving themselves for late spring and summer when we can really benefit from it. I'm excited for spring! May is my favourite month of the year. Can be lovely and cool in the mornings and scorching hot in the afternoon. Please god, let this summer be a good one!
  20. We also didn't manage an air frost. Hovering at 0.2C at the coldest time of the day. Pretty rubbish really when we're in a slack Northerly; perfectly still with sub -6C uppers. Sums this winter up nicely doesn't it really?
  21. You mean exactly like the post you replied to mine with? Contradiction at its absolute finest.
  22. "May 2016 is certain to be wet and chilly" Ah. So you write for the express. Can I borrow your crystal ball? I'd like to check the lottery numbers whilst I'm forecasting 15 weeks ahead.
