Oxford is good because its quite central and can decide from there what is going to happen.

Donnington castle has a good view a believe ill take a closer look into good view points in the area.

Ill be the one with a huge aerial on the car hoping it attracts lightning strikes! probably not a good idea if i am honest but the ideas are running out.

I'm thinking of driving to somewhere say Oxford/Newbury area and waiting for developments there and then seeing how things pan out.

After a max temperature of 31.6°C fresher air has moved in this evening and now its 20.5°C.

Even with mid level cloud cover its still 31°C but i think the storms will start to develop just to my north possibly again starting around the Cotswold area and more widespread than earlier.

Its boiling out there and the air feels more muggy today on top of that 31.6°C/Dew Point 19°C

I think storms will start to break out north of the M4 soon bit like in winter when it snows north of M4.

9am and its 26°C couldn't sleep last night sky looks unstable not sure what to expect for the rest of the day.

Well my first storm chase was a success . So I headed down the M4 East to the Newbury Junction and as we were heading into newbury all you see was this almighty CG+ strike and took me and my friend by surprise and luckly caught it in the right place when it was producing lightning headed back home now as the activity has died somewhat but still a few storms around across the SE.

What's amazing is that it's further east than forecast with nothing at all for the SW where there was a chance of something

This is fun not knowing what could or doesn't happen it seems very uncertain but if there is one thing I am certain off its that its going to be a warm/hot week with the storm risk generally increasing as the week goes on if the current risk of the SE looks good enough for Thursday night I might take a drive but lets wait and see how it pans out.

I would like to share with you all my opinion on the coming heat wave, I think its going to be a great week for heat and with that heat there will be the risk of some thunderstorms, so I can't quite understand why some people are still moaning about not reaching record highs, first off this could be the beginning of a pattern change well into July and the models are still unsure on the weather past next weekend for all we know we could be heading towards the ECM solution which builds high pressure back in next week or the GFS solution which still isn't that bad with things cooling down a little but still pleasant, for us to even be in this current pattern is great ill take this any day over the cooler NW'erly winds we had only a few weeks back

So its already 24.2°C warmer than forecast and most local currently 24°C as well lovely!

Just out of interest when storms develop which level of winds do they usually travel, 850hpa, 700 or 500hpa its been bugging me because sometimes they don't always follow 850hpa?

Just had a look at Euro4 and it isn't showing much if anything for Tuesday night into Wednesday morning I think Wales and the NW England could do well Wednesday Afternoon there is still a lot of uncertainty though so I think tomorrow we will have a better idea on what is going to happen.

I still wouldn't get down about it because in these setups storms could crop up almost anywhere I feel the 06z looked a lot better in my opinion.

Good thing I have a car because if the storms don't come here i'm going to them unless they end up over the continent

Still to early to pinpoint where will see storms if there are any but i would agree at what your saying based on the currently charts but as we all know it will change still so lets wait and see but it does look exciting as things stand!
