Words of caution (before we get too excited) from the MO chief forecaster From the MO Weather Warnings page In this situation many elements need to come together at the same time to form these thunderstorms and so there remains large uncertainty in their development. This alert is therefore likely to be updated in the coming days.

Hellfire, that's a bit precise. I'll have to go to bed early to get up for the spectacle

As TEITS said in his post, there will undoubtedly be winners and losers, but we're nearing a reliable time and, if anything, the charts are upgrading. The graphic on BBC breakfast at 08:45 showed pulses of weather mainly towards the Midlands and East, but we're still too early to put an accurate track these -- it's still all potential. Will come down to streetlight watching (whoops, wrong time of year) nowcasting and Radar watching Would that mean you get a proverbial "Bolt from the Blue"?

Your pores will be oozing sweat with that high a Theta-E, you'll need a storm to take some moisture out of the air

That almost looked like a quote from Coast A poster of storm info badly missed on this forum

Excellent post. Interesting how much time difference there is between the BBC forecasts and the NMM. BBC still going for heavy rain here in the next couple of hours, NMM developing it once out over the sea late afternoon, but a belter late in the evening -

I'm not getting into an argument, just stating what I believe is what is/will happen at my location. The convergence line you speak of looks as though it get considerably weaker the further East you go. North West Norfolk will indeed benefit, I have my doubts as to whether it will even rain here -

Hi Chris, I'm about 70 miles north north west of you as the crow flies and the sun hasn't broken through the cloud at all today. It's cloudy, miserable and murky. I'd welcome some sun before the convective bit, but I'm telling it as it is here and convection doesn't happen though unbroken cloud -

Couldn't agree more, had some drizzle for 15 mins, then some light rain, now back to dry, cloudy and miserable. There is no chance of convection here, unless we import it from somewhere, anything home grown is a complete no no -

It's an interesting point you make about the MO and GFS forecasts. Looking at the BBC Breakfast forecast it looked as if any (or most ) thundery activity will pass over before lunch, whereas the detailed forecast (off the forecast page) says between 22-23:00 tonight will be torrential, Against those 2, we have the NMM-6 developing a humdinger offshore at 17:00 with heavy rain at 20:00 from the southwest. In other words -- take your pick Nobody knows -

That's because "The Triangle" lives even though Captain Shortwave has moved south. Your storm shield now covers most of Essex Suffolk and Norfolk -
Looking at the FAX charts, my wife wondered what the heading "Syntopic Fax Charts" Means? I hadn't noticed it but surely should be "Synoptic"??

Well, if it was a nice day I missed it. Working in a warehouse that sells drugs (Legal drugs to the Pharmacies of the world). No natural light and lots of security. I did see the sun at lunchtime but by the time I finished, the sun had set and gloom was spreading it's tentacles across the land. As I got into my car I saw a bat fluttering across a darkening sky streaked with blue and grey. By the time I reached my hotel, it was dark Dry and mild (but not muggy), tomorrow I go home ( after a very busy 3 weeks -- averaging 12 hour days every day including weekends. Cream crackered and looking forward to 3 whole days off
