  1. Have just been getting clipped off that big streamer going through Glasgow for the last half an hour. Within the next twenty minutes areas just 5 miles or so South of Glasgow city centre join the fun again!
  2. Couple of photos of my and the neighbours back gardens...almost brings a tear to my eye! I have and always will just adore the scenes created by snowfall - so glad there are many people on here who love it just as much as I do from all over Scotland, England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Ireland! Cheers everyone!
  3. The greatest Winter of my life and now the most insane snow day I have ever witnessed! The Beast from the East has delivered in the most spectacular way possible! Video from my house and picture of road just outside it! Cheers everyone! B1DE2C7A-5149-4234-8519-85DBB9827A7C.MOV
  4. This is the road outside my house...A ROAD!!!!! I honestly feel like just stripping all my clothes off and running along it!!!!! It’s still coming down thick and fast!!!! Can’t wait to measure this when the snow ends...WHICH IS DAYS AWAY!!!!!! It’s just INSANE!!!!!!
  5. This is what I call a proper whiteout!!!! (best I have ever seen from my house! - video below) Bloody hell!!!!!!! ?????? HONESTLY HOW ARE WE EVER GOING TO BETTER TODAY!!!!???? Winter 2018/19 you have one hell of a job on yer hands!!! CF25FF07-5E0E-4A91-912F-07EDC967726F.MOV
  6. Total whiteout for just under an hour here currently! Last night and early hours was insane also! 16/01/2018 was the best snow day I had ever seen...THAT HAS NOW BEEN BEATEN!!!!!! Loving all the posts in here from the usual thread members and everyone from outside Scotland - pictures are all unbelievable!!! WINTER 2017/18 is officially the greatest I have ever witnessed!!!!!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSS!
  7. Aye - Kings Park is only a ten minute walk down the road from me! (lovely place and people) Agreed - 20cm it is!
  8. Thanks for pointing that out! I have just realised that after being on this forum for 9 years that I have not put my location in! Will do it just now for future snow predictions! I will take anywhere between those totals you are going for though plus it gives you less of a margin for error. Cheers!
  9. That reminds me of the rubbish the Daily Record were spouting for my area on 19/01/2018! I was in the Amber warning area...clear blue skies all day then suddenly all schools around me were closing at 13:00pm (Sister was told to pick up my niece by text message) and people from work were being told to leave at 15:00pm...still clear blue skies at this point...then finally at 16:00pm one solitary heavy snow shower came through...lasted half an hour then nothing happened afterwards! Was the biggest let down/Amber warning of my life! I remember poor Sean Batty took loads of abuse on Twitter about it.
  10. Morning all! Would really love to be living in the East this week! Aberdeen, Forfar, Edinburgh to Kelso are all in for a ton of snow - can’t wait to see the totals on the ground by Friday! Glasgow area and South Lanarkshire look like hitting the jackpot Tuesday night and Wednesday - it’s going to be some week for lots of us on this thread! What a Winter it has been for many - if this week delivers here it will be my best ever! Have a good one today!
  11. Morning all! We have made it! This is the week the Beast from the East finally arrives after what seems like the longest build up in history! Loving the UKMO (charts below from 48 hours to 144) this morning - heavy snow showers will be moving in today through places such as Norwich and Newcastle Upon Tyne then spreading through large parts of the East from North to South! We will see the first significant accumulations settling later on today. The frequent and heavy snow showers just keep going tomorow - more widespread with the Lothian and Borders in for a hammering in Scotland, Sheffield and Peterborough to name a very few! Wednesday more of Scotland, England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Ireland join in the snow fun with a special mention for Edinburgh and Aberdeen as they will be taking a proper pasting! Thursday and Friday look big days for even more significant prolonged snowfall to occur - London, Cardiff, Exeter or Birmingham with a big chance of this but a special mention for Dublin and Belfast as they could be in for a big blizzard lasting hours! The cold air keeps going in the North - Scotland in the Freezer until the end of this run! What a week this is going to for loads of us! It truly is incredible - wonderful time to be a lover of wintry weather! Live every moment of it! Enjoy everyone!
  12. I’ve got it...Avon representative? Advance warnings incase you slip or fall and are unable to deliver orders? Just a wee guess mate.
  13. Hi mate Lovely place to visit and you picked the perfect week - looks as though there will be plenty of heavy snow showers blowing through there on Wednesday night and especially Thursday - might be a tricky drive home though! Hsve a good one!
  14. It really is never ending isn’t it? Incredible, phenomenal, unbelievable and just out of this world charts again from the ECM! Below latest ECM charts from 28/02 to 02/03 which for large areas of Scotland, England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Ireland contain...frequent and heavy snow showers, bitter cold, blizzards, strong winds from the East/North East and South East, ice days, frosts, danglers, streamers, more organised bands of snow pushing through and significant snowfall in some of the most populated cities all over the UK and Ireland...some of this is happening in the Meteorological Spring!!!! Honestly if you are in a Yellow or Amber warning area set for 10 or 20 cm of snow or even if you get 1cm get out into the garden and at least roll about in it. This is a proper Beast from the East! Have a good night all!
  15. Afternoon all! Just popping in from Scotland! I am so jealous of all you ladies and gents in the North East - you are going to get absolutely buried with snow on Tuesday , Wednesday and Thursday! Newcastle Upon Tyne especially looks a fantastic spot! Cant wait to see the pictures in here next week! Have a good night and all the best!
  16. Inghams are you having an affair with one of the cleaners at Metoffice Head Office? All this inside information you are providing is fascinating - keep it coming! @Ayrshire weather I’m the opposite from you - model fatigue has set in! Feels like we have all been counting down this Beast from the East for months! So good to see it incoming at last - once again incredible looking charts from the latest UKMO and GFS right up until Friday for all the UK and Ireland. (keeps going in the North after this)
  17. Thank you for all the name suggestions and comments - much appreciated! This Metoffice warnings malarkey is starting to give me a sore head - my location has three separate warnings out for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. (All yellow not Amber like some of you lucky folk!) I am either going to end up with 2 cm from all of them or over 10 cm! @Hawesy will you be doing the snow predictions for us all?
  18. Afternoon all! Just browsing the regional threads as it is so rare most of us in the UK and Ireland are all getting snow at the same time! I think places like Sheffield and Barnsley will do well from the frequent heavy snow showers on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. (Many others places also - my geography isn’t that strong ) Friday then looks like there could be some big falls of prolonged snowfall all over Yorkshire and East England. Looking forward to popping back in here during the week to see all the snow pictures and reports. Have a good day.
  19. I just have one concern about the upcoming cold spell this week...my girlfriend is due to give birth on March 5th and the worst case scenario would be for the wee bugger to announce his arrival early during a Clyde streamer while I am in lamp post watching mode or out enjoying it! We have narrowed the name down to two...but I’m still trying to throw a weather related name into the hat! (she will never go for it but worth at least the discussion!) Any you can think of? (it’s a boy) I actually had the name Storm down for a girl so my plan was ruined - Stormzy for a boy maybe?
  20. Hi mate Have a read of @Jo Farrow blog explains it all perfect and is a fantastic read! Link below! https://www.netweather.tv/weather-forecasts/news/8748-sea-effect-snow---the-uk-version-of-lake-effect-snow-very-cold-air-across-the-north-sea
  21. Morning all! Agree with @CatchMyDrift - this really does have the potential to be one of the all time great Winter/Spring weeks in Scottish history! The East is seriously going to get buried! Can see Edinburgh airport struggling big time by midweek to get flights In and out! Wednesday looks an insane day for Forth/Clyde streamers! Honestly what a Winter this has been and continuing into Spring! Enjoy yer Sunday! (Stunning day today)
  22. I live in Scotland and I’m becoming obsessed with this event! Before any of that you are getting pummelled with frequent heavy snow showers on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday! As you say the ECM is amazing for you ladies and gents and also this Metoffice forecast attached is insane! (Have honestly only ever seen this for mountain forecasts!) If this all stays the same you will be talking about this for years to come! I will be browsing through this thread lots in the coming week for pictures/reports! Have a good day everyone!
  23. I see you are based in Bournemouth? Personally I can only see a max of about 3 degrees on Friday (after the snow has moved through) and 5 degrees on Saturday (dry and cloudy) plus you are in for heavy snow showers starting tomorrow until Thursday. (More disruptive spell of snow on Thursday night/Friday early morning a big possibility) so I see a great chance of a snow event along the South Coast. Just my thoughts on it mate.
  24. ECM 48 hours to 120! What else can we say? It’s just unbelievable to see these charts so close and not downgrading! Perfect Winter/Spring charts!
  25. Good Morning all! Once again I am loving the charts this morning - splendid to see the incoming cold spell still intact and looking as cold and severe as ever! (Just look at the uppers - mind blowing! UKMO charts below for 48 hours away (Just take that in - 48 HOURS AWAY!) to 144 - short term to medium they are simply incredible for the UK (Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales) and Ireland. Snow will be piling up for Eastern parts from North to South and more widespread heavy snow showers will be affecting pretty much anywhere with locally significant accumulations! (not the rust variety @Great Plum) At the end of this run Scotland and parts of Northern/North East England are still in the freezer! You also have the much discussed low moving up from the South which is going to dump some incredible amounts of snowfall for some very lucky people. (for how long who knows but I would be very excited if I was in it’s path!) (check out the forecasts on the Metoffice website/APP for London, Cardiff, Dublin and Belfast for Friday...chose capitals to make it easier ) It really is going to be a very exciting and sleepless week ahead for people who enjoy this type of weather. (looking forward to browsing all the regionals to see pictures/reports - about bloody time some of you get to enjoy/see snowfall again!) Have a fantastic Sunday!
