  1. Must be hell on Earth being a snow lover in England most years - unless you live 200 meters above sea level. On the other hand it is hell on Earth being a lover of heat/thunderstorms up here in Scotland during Summer! It has been an unbelievable Winter here so far - some of the heaviest snow showers I have ever seen, endless days with snow on the ground and experienced Thundersnow for the first time in my life which was incredible. It has got to the point that if I don’t see anymore cold spells/snow I won’t really be too fussed - although I would love there to be more and also would like every snow lover on Netweather to get what they crave. Hopefully you all get whatever weather makes you happy for the remainder of Winter and I get some proper heat/thunderstorms from May onwards!
  2. Massive big dirty bastar* flakes here!!!!! Getting pummelled!!!! WAS NEVER IN DOUBT! YAAAAASSSSSSSSSS!
  3. I am 65 meters above sea level so thought even a slight elevation would help...currently very dark and raining. Today is up there with the biggest snow disappointments of my life and there have been many! The bar was raised too high on Tuesday now it’s back to the old rubbish! Parts of Ayrshire, rural South Lanarkshire and Shuggie in for another absolutely pummelling. This is all the snow we have left since Tuesday. ?
  4. Sweet baby Jesus of Nazareth!!!! Now that is what I like to see! That is going to be chaos! Be keeping a close eye on it as it splits in two and snakes North and South of me. Three hours of total whiteout carnage hopefully.
  5. https://stv.tv/news/scotland/1406542-workers-urged-to-go-home-early-as-heavy-snow-forecast/ Really hoping they are correct! I want snow Armageddon!
  6. Yes - they have been getting a pasting since this morning and it looks as though they will continue to do so this afternoon. We seem to be living off the scraps currently down here.
  7. I know but the point I am making is that is probably the first heavy shower to pass through there today - the sun will be splitting the trees there in five minutes. We were getting pummelled ten minutes ago and now it’s clear. I just don’t see how they can justify school closes today for South Lanarkshire when Tuesday was 100 times worse and her school was open - they are going on extinct information/Amber warning that is already a bust as they got it very wrong from first thing this morning - all the action was further North.
  8. Indeed - but looking at the radar the sun is going to be out in five minutes and the snow shower currently is nowhere near as bad as Tuesday’s when there was extremely heavy snow every hour in that area. They really need to look into a better warning system for this Country - it’s been a shambles with the motorway fiasco and these Amber warnings this week.
  9. My sister based in Rutherglen has just had a text from the primary school of my niece telling her they are closing and to come and pick her up due to adverse weather conditions!? There is absolutely nothing happening in that area - blue sky most of the morning and the odd light passing sleet shower. Everyone can see that all the action is missing Glasgow/South Lanarkshire and North Lanarkshire - yes we have snow/ice on the ground but I just can’t see any disruptive snowfall incoming? We can all clearly see the action is further North and probably Ayrshire/Borders soon. The mind boggles!
  10. Absolutely hee-haw going on in the Amber warning area so far today. (Which I am in) All the action so far NW/N/NE of Glasgow. I have the day off so giving up already and heading North - Mugdock or Conic Hill, Balmaha. (watch all the showers move further South now. )
  11. Morning all! Not a single flake here yet but as Catch said - plenty of time to go. Loch Lomond area and Fort William have been taking the brunt - anyone live in those areas? Must have been some massive snow showers passing through and more lined up.
  12. Ruzzi I think you are spot on. It looks like being a rinse and repeat of Tuesday for pretty much the same areas as then. (showers may not push as far East though) I see good old Sean Batty is ramping it up - he is expecting travel disruption tomorow for West/Central Scotland. (As per screenshot attached from Twitter) My sincere apologies for the fact I keep posting these Metoffice screenshots for my own location but it does look like another amazing day is in store for here and many other members!
  13. Yeah - just seen that. Looking really good at the moment - winds look strong also, rush hour looks like fun currently. Lets hope it’s close to what Tuesday produced! Would be great to see the old Thundersnow again!
  14. Same! I gave up at 23:00 and called it a night! Be interesting to see/hear how much snow Ayrshire/Borders got in the early hours of this morning? Woke up to see a couple of centimetres wiped off my lovely snow! The chase begins again later tonight/tomorrow - looking good currently. (Although the Metoffice APP will change about twenty times before it arrives)
  15. I am three miles Northwest and the Metoffice have just updated my forecast to this? Could be another late night - third in a row!
  16. Think I am suffering the snow hangover discussed in here earlier! Mon tae fu**! I thought this front might snake its way up to Croftfoot - looks like that ain’t going to happen! Funny how you can still be proper raging about missing out on a snow event while you have snow thick on the ground and just experienced one of the best 24 hour snow watching experiences of yer life! I wish everyone in the Amber warning area a joyful night of pure heavenly snow entertainment and I hope you all are safe and sound if you must head out on the roads! Oh and great pictures in here again today - really appreciate everyone who posts in here! Adds to my Winter/snow vibe!
  17. Afternoon everyone Well the GFS snow charts have been pretty much spot on for me the past thirty six hours or so which is very impressive. Looking good for Friday in parts of Scotland (my new favourite wind direction showing) plus Metoffice also agreeing currently. (See GFS/Metoffice screenshots below) Wee bonus picture of a fox currently enjoying the snow in my back garden! Really do hope people who have had no settling snow this Winter or indeed for a number of years get some soon.
  18. Yes - finally went to sleep at 01:00! What a day it was! Have finally calmed down. I still see quite a bit of snow to come for parts of Scotland today, tomorrow, Friday and even Sunday for a short time before it turns to rain and washes away my snow. (See GFS charts/Metoffice summary attached) - these have been fantastic recently for snow distribution) Tonight/early hours of tomorrow morning and Friday morning look particularly interesting! (Metoffice summary for Strathclyde looks good also) Roads are a nightmare here - not a gritter in sight. Fox is enjoying it though.
  19. Light snow falling here now - sky is very orange/pink now! Here we go again! I have been on the snow trail since 3am this morning - running on empty here but know I have to keep going as this is too special to miss! Had much better stamina when I was 13 years old lamp-post watching! Edit: extremely heavy snowfall now!!!!
  20. Sky beginning to go bright white once again here... Going to be another late night snow watching tomorow...not complaining though!
  21. Caught the tail end of it on video! (Was too busy watching in amazement to record it ) Fair whack in the garden now. Will take better pictures in the morning! Still a few hours of these intense snow showers to go! On a side note I am going to be a dad on March 5th - wish he was here just now to see this! (Parents and kids are currently out with sledges) - hopefully we see a day or days like this again in the future! It really has been unbelievable- will never forget 16/01/2018! 22. This is insane now - 35 minutes of total whiteout conditions and still going! Without doubt the heaviest snowfall I have ever seen. I am currently in Croftfoot (four miles Southeast of Glasgow city centre and it is just bonkers what is currently falling!) Cars are stopping on the road and just waiting it out - Amber warning for here well merited!
  23. Cmon mate - you can’t be saying you have went off the idea of snow on here. Rutherglen is in the Amber warning - plenty more heavy snow showers to come, especially from now to 1am. Absolute pasting I am getting at the minute - keep saying this but...it is incredible!!!!
  24. 0C here. This has seriously been one of the greatest Winter days of my life - heavy snow showers since midnight, howling wind during them, intense hail showers, thunder and lightning during a heavy snow shower all while there is about 4 inches on the ground. Honestly when that Thundersnow happened I just about pished myself with excitement. The best thing about it all? It just keeps going!
