  1. Well if all the models/charts agreed it would be boring for us all, right!? right!? right!? I think it’s what keeps us all intrigued/interested in viewing them everyday! Definitely has been a wee trend to bring the low further North on the latest GFS and ECM runs but we know how fickle these charts can be - the GFS 18z later and ECM in the morning might look totally different again - for the better or even worse! In the meantime snow for large parts of the UK and Ireland from Monday to Thursday/Friday - strong winds from the East, bitter windchill, very heavy snow showers, streamers/danglers galore and more persistent spells of snow could pop up anywhere! So much to look forward to for us all next week! Hope you all have a great night - I’m off for a wee gin or two! Cheers!
  2. This is just incredible from the ECM at 96 hours - large swathes of the UK and Ireland will be getting frequent heavy snow showers all day long. Eastern areas from North to South buried by the end of the day. (including previous two days snowfall!)
  3. I’m going to have to take a break before a blow a fuse and start really insulting people? Calm down Danny Dyer. I think the point people are trying to make is...if you are a genuine snow lover then why are you bypassing four days of snowfall and numerous warnings to look for a breakdown? Surely you would be looking forward to what the GFS, ECM and UKMO charts are showing for that period? A rare event is forecast in the short term (which is still to happen) - pretty sure no-one has any problem with a discussion on any proposed/potential breakdown. Just my point of view anyway and I feel this post warranted a constructive reply.
  4. I have just read GFS displaces all the cold air and that the GFS is poor for long term cold. (both these events currently modelled to happen on 02/03/2018...) So from Monday to Thursday there are currently Metoffice warnings out for most of the UK and Ireland - anywhere between 2cm and 20cm for again LARGE parts of the UK and Ireland. This would be a four day extremely snowy and very rare spell of cold weather. (Meteorological Spring starting during this) On top of ALL this the people who are looking way ahead to the low coming up from the South are also the ones in the warning zones for the beast from the East snow showers which will be blowing through from Monday PM onwards...honestly my mind boggles at times in here! I am flabbergasted. With regards to the above...we are two days away from the start of the most sustained snowy period the UK and Ireland has seen in years, rare beast from the East making a grand entrance and hanging around, potential for again large parts of the UK and Ireland to remain in the freezer until mid March at least and high chance of a couple of blizzards blowing through Southern parts of England. @karlos1983 help me out here mate. What more do people want? Honestly I come into this thread buzzing with excitement and energy and then when I leave feel like this...
  5. Good morning all! Every time I log in here first thing in the morning I always expect the worst after reading a few posts... But wait...what is this below!? Some of the greatest charts ever viewed in the history of Netweather!!!! UKMO charts from 96 hours to 144 and ECM from 96 hours to 144...look at these!!!! Tons of snow for many parts of the UK (Scotland, England, Northern Ireland, Wales) and Ireland! Freezing days, severe windchill, strong easterly winds and some of the best streamers/danglers we have ever seen! Seriously this is going to be an insane cold spell - it is on our doorstep and will be remembered for years to come! Have a wonderful weekend everyone and remember to get some extra sleep in - going to be lots of 4am lamp post watching next week! Cheers!
  6. I know what happened now - judging by this farewell post. I am sure you all kept in regular contact and emailed all the time...
  7. Speaking of old faces - what ever happened to @Buriedundersnow ?
  8. Bloody hell mate from Stockholm to Cumbernauld!? So sorry to hear that. Would not wish that on my worst enemy. Good to have you back!
  9. I posted in here a month ago about the extreme weather enthusiast dream...live in Scandinavia in Winter, fall in love for free accommodation purposes and you get a proper Winter. Live in Miami in Summer, fall in love for free accommodation purposes and you get a proper Summer/chance of tornados and a hurricane or two. Come back to Scotland in Spring for four seasons in one day and also come back in Autumn to see the leaves changing colours and the chance of a windstorm later on with a funny name. (bawbag for example) @LomondSnowstorm is living the dream!
  10. Good read this - give it a swatch! https://stv.tv/news/scotland/1408968-cold-spell-from-siberia-set-hit-scotland-next-week/ @Hawesy get me down for at least 10cm.
  11. Stunning UKMO 120 charts! Seriously can’t take anymore of this - it is utterly phenomenal! Just look at these wee delights! Now that’s the real deal!!!!!!
  12. Absolutely brilliant in this thread - learned so much today and the throwback pictures have been fantastic. Thanks to everyone who contributes - great to have such a wide variety of locations in here. (folk on farms in the Highlands to people living on the coast - really enjoying all the input and have done all Winter) My Metoffice APP has now updated to show a heavy snow shower. Just look at that feels like temperature though...
  13. Just thought I would peek in here to see all the sheer delight/joy and light hearted banter...wish I had not bothered! What is going on in here!? @Rapodo just relax mate, can’t see much wrong with the attached outlook? Southern Britain looks good to me - you have to be in it to win it. Have a good day all!
  14. Sean Batty tweet/STV latest forecast attached! Looking ominous... GET IN THERE YA WEE BEAUTY!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I am near speechless - these three charts from the GFS 06z low res are just mind blowing. Honestly what else can we all say!? This is the pinnacle of Winter weather watching. All those years people have spent on here logging on everyday to check the latest charts at all hours of the day, refreshing the Metoffice APP to see if our location has updated to show a single snowflake every Winters day and just hoping/willing that charts at 384 hours away make it down to the reliable. It has all been leading to this! When it does arrive get out and enjoy every second of it - if you can. You just never know how long it could be before it happens again! This is what being a lover of snow/extreme weather is all about! Cheers everyone!
  16. Indeed! Not quite sure what Crewe Cold and The Eagle were on about earlier this morning - sleep deprivation? They are starting to remind me of these two...just a wee joke lads!
  17. Pretty bonkers isn’t it? Just incredible to see these charts so close and all the big guns loaded with snow. (ECM, UKMO and GFS) At this rate the poor Easter bunny will be arriving frozen solid...
  18. Seriously this is getting ridiculous - could be years before we ever see anything like these charts again. (with a high chance of verifying) Sit back, relax and take it all in. Just beautlful! ECM 240
  19. Exactly Abbie - high risk/high reward with a ton of naughty snowfall moving up into Southern England and Wales. (I for one would be buzzing like an old fridge if I lived in those areas)
  20. ECM 120 BANK!!!!! Bloody stunning!!!! What a way to bow out of Meterorological Winter!
  21. Indeed! I am outside the warning area currently but a nice little upgrade from the Metoffice summary going forward. I was in an amber warning area last month and got zilch so still very positive about seeing quite a bit of snow here from Tuesday onwards. Exciting times ahead!
  22. Good morning all Set the alarm very early to have a peak at the charts...look absolutely fantastic to me. Personally I am looking for a ton of snow over a number of days - large areas of the UK and Ireland are going to get exactly that! GFS 00z is incredible for snowfall this morning for large swathes of the UK and Ireland. (especially here in Scotland - never ending in parts from Tuesday until the end of the run. Have posted screenshots of the run below from a more Scottish IMBY - tons of snow charts for everyone else also at different times not included) UKMO is also stunning for snowfall right out until the end of the run for yet again large parts of the UK and Ireland. (charts below) Yes the threat of milder air reaching the Southern UK later is a threat - however, this is not before you all see a significant amount of snowfall for a number of days. Hope everyone has a wonderful day! All the best
  23. Right I’m up to 13% battery now. You know what dog biscuits to it I’m coming off the cautious fence! On the 16/01/2018 over ten heavy snow showers came through here from the West and dumped a good 6 inches! Next week they are 100% coming through here again except this time from the East/North East/South East and will dump just as much or even more! It’s going to be a memorable event and as @Ruzzi said lots of late nights once again except this time most of Scotland will be getting pummelled on a daily basis! Mon the fuc#ing snow!!!! Do yer worst ya dafty!!!!
  24. Funny you mention that...was just looking at the BBC forecast for the Glasgow area and took a wee screenshot of these. To be taken with a large pinch of salt obviously but still you just never know.
  25. Feeling the same - for us in the West Central area it is going to be a slow burner. (Wednesday onwards our fun could start) Looking forward to all the pictures in here from folk in the North East, East and South East! Plus popping into other regional threads to see all the snow action - going to be a memorable cold spell for many. Had a great snow fix this Winter in the West - great to see everyone buzzing with excitement and so they should be! What a way to end Winter and start Spring - charts and Metoffice outlook are just mind blowing for cold and snow across large swathes of the UK.
