  5. Got zero snowfall from our recent cold spell in my area so decided to head up Conic Hill, Balmaha for a Winter walk on Friday afternoon. Glorious day and conditions!
  6. Heavy rain here for the past 15 minutes - people above 100 to 150 meters must be getting a very heavy snowfall at the minute! Lucky buggers. ️
  7. I am about 10 minutes drive from East Kilbride and all I got was a five minute sleet shower! Clear skies overhead now - swear there is a snow curse in this area. The snow has been going North and South of me for days! All I have had is hard frosts and sunshine. Rain here tomorrow, couple of dry chilly days thereafter and then double digits by Tuesday! Considering a climb up a Munro this weekend just to see some snow! Desperate times for me and it is only 13 days into Winter. ???
  8. Really looking into the possibility of moving up North - It has become a real wasteland for me to get any snow here! Seeing all the pictures in here and the webcams from Tyndrum northwards is making me extremely jealous - happy for folk who have snow but still pretty raging about it. ??? Going to be even worse tomorrow when 20cms of snow gets dumped in a big part of England. (This front was five days ago showing as coming through Central/Southern Scotland to make matters worse) Yes it’s dry, sunny and frosty and will be until Wednesday (before heavy rain arrives/snow over 300 meters I would imagine) but it is very boring especially as a large area of the UK and Ireland has seen snow over the past couple of days and again tomorrow. Enjoy the snow and have a good weekend. ️️️
  9. Good morning all! As everyone has already seen a shift South this morning on the GFS and MetOffice for Sunday’s system - on the MetOffice website for my location I have gone from last nights 90% chance of heavy snowfall to a 40% of light snow for this very Sunday! Surely this means they see it as more of a Southern event now? Good luck to everyone who has a chance of a snow day on Sunday! Weekend snow is always the most fun! (If you are of a cold persuasion obviously )
  10. Will it snow in Carlisle though? That is the question... All joking aside the weather looks very exciting IMBY over the next five days. (severe gales and a chance of snowfall - can’t ask for much more than that at the start of Winter!) The GFS 18z will send all cold weather lovers to bed happy later tonight ...
  11. Absolutely fantastic Metoffice UK 6-30 days update today - every year I would always hope December would be cold throughout with the chance of snow as it adds to the festive feeling! With what the models are showing for the foreseeable and the background signals it really is an exciting time of model watching. (If cold weather is what you are after) Looking forward to seeing all the pictures from different areas of the UK and Ireland this month. Hoping the GFS and ECM start to look similar today and tomorrow with regards to the upcoming cold spell this week. Most folk have a bias on here when posting thoughts on different outlooks but why would they not? (It’s a weather enthusiasts forum after all) Thank you to everyone who posts on here all year round or during particular seasons - I have been a member since 2009 and still learn new things every year!
  12. I think you need to get it looked into, temp you record on a daily basis always seem to be 2 or 3 degrees higher than everyone else in Scotland. I seen you talking about 25 degrees recorded yesterday? That can't be right - would get it checked out if I was you. Sounds like it is stuck on the London setting rather than Dumfries. 😅😅😅
  13. Completely agree - I think Anyweather has been smoking some of the UKs green lush landscapes to actually believe what he is saying.
  14. Are you joking? Our climate is shockingly boring. Russia/Germany would be the perfect climate for myself - cold winters and hot Summers mixed in with proper thunderstorms (I don't mean these pathetic UK attempts which consist of a few lightning strikes and the odd rumble of thunder) The UK climate consists of rain/cloud/average temps and a sunny day between all year round - our Winters and Summers are non existent. It's the same old rubbish all year - barely anything exciting happens and we can barely scrape a hot spell in Summer or cold spell in Winter. Just to the east of us Europe bakes in most Summers - we get nothing Just to the east of us Europe shivers in Winter - we get nothing Thank god I am off to Miami in a few weeks - be nice to actually have some heat and thunderstorms in a Summer month. Let's all not kid ourselves we live in a varied/exciting climate. It is ball-achingly dull.
  15. A quick update on the outlook for the next seven days by looking at the latest Metoffice update, charts and posts in here... Northwest of the UK = crap weather Northeast of the UK = crap weather Southwest of the UK = mixed bag weather Southeast of the UK = Sunny and warm weather It is as easy as that folks.
  16. It is not one run though, the output has been getting worse with each run - the heat which was showing for here has completely vanished. Even the Metoffice have downgraded my temperatures for next Thursday for example. (Also mentions rain moving in later that day) The UK is one of the worst places to live if you are a weather enthusiast, always the last stop for any hot or cold weather - Mushy is spot on with his post, it is always the same no matter the season. I am sure we will still see some pleasant days here and a couple of hot days in the South though but I was really looking forward to seeing the kind of weather/temperatures that charts showed a couple of days ago and that all the other output was suggesting.
  17. Explosive thunderstorm development! Hope it is a great day ahead for all the Netweather team - looks tasty.
  18. Looks a very dangerous day for people in Southwestern/Western/North-Central Texas and Southwest/South-Central Oklahoma. Possibility of long track/strong tornadoes.
  19. The Metoffice update has been talking about rise of High pressure for the 2nd week of June for 2 weeks - these long range updates from them have been outstanding for months now. Perhaps most prolonged sunshine in the North for once! It has been a pretty unremarkable Spring with daytime temperatures hovering on average around 13 degrees here and the variety of weather has been non existent. I am really looking forward to some warmth in June and with the Metoffice updates consistently going for this pressure rise I am almost certain we are in for a good spell of Summer weather. Had it only been the charts showing this I would be very cautious. Cheers ☀ï¸âš¡ï¸
  20. I just wish the strengthening sun brought better temperatures than this. To me it looks as though away from South East England it is going to be a pretty unremarkable spell of weather over the next two weeks. A few sunny days yes but lots of cloud/drizzle around for the rest of us with temperatures around average. (Again South East England seeing some warm days) I would sell my gran for a warm and sunny week just now! Hopefully April delivers some Spring warmth for us all.
  21. From looking at all the charts/Metoffice forecasts it does look awful for up here from tomorrow night onwards although with a few clear spells in between. Middle of March currently looks sunny, dry and settled - cool across much of the UK during daytime with frosts at night. Saturday looks a lovely Spring day for all of England though - it is always around this time of the year I get very jealous of folk living in the South East of England as they begin to see glorious Spring sunshine and pleasant temps. (Looks great for a few days from Saturday) Having lots of snow here in Winter makes up for a little bit of my jealously though! Get the mower and the beers out! 15 to 16 degrees is perfect early Spring weather (little warmer even better) I can't wait for my first spell like that! Enjoy! Cheers
  22. 7/10 IMBY. Couple of severe gale events in December, snow falling on a few days but only two days with snow actually on the ground. Very frosty/foggy spell from Boxing Day until the end of the year. Below average January temperature wise and 16 days with snow on the ground - fantastic Winter month. Febuary has been a rather boring Winter month, nothing really of note snow/wind wise - good number of air/ground frosts. Spring has begun here with gales and there are heavy snow showers forecast for the next 48 hours. Hoping for a March like 2012 or 2013 - 20 degrees for a week or below average and snowy.
  23. Really enjoyed this Winter so far - mixed December here with a couple of severe gale events, 3 days with snow falling and a very frosty/foggy week lasting from Boxing Day until the end of that month. January came in below average and very snowy / 16 days with snow on the ground. Febuary started cold but now slightly milder with temps peaking at 6 degrees although still dropping below freezing at night. Only thing missing was a white Christmas. Looking at the charts there is nothing to suggest anything wintry anytime soon here. (Hills/mountains look splendid throughout Scotland at the moment) March can delver prolonged cold/heavy snow here (March 2013 for example) but I would also take an early spell of warmth once the clocks go forward! Anyways, my own personal preference would be a wintry first half of March followed by warm/sunny weather until the end of August with lots of spectacular thunderstorms during the Summer. (If only) I look forward to reading the thoughts of Knocker, Mushy, Millhouse and Scorcher during the next few months. (postive/cheery posts please guys as you will have nothing to moan about as the chill of Winter will have passed) Let's hope for another taste of Winter or some sun/warmth in the weeks ahead! Cheers
  24. Best Winter here since 2010/11. Absolutely brilliant December and January with two notable severe gale events, 16 days with snow on the ground, lost count of the air/ground frosts number. Another week of cold weather ahead with a good chance of another few cm's tomorrow night - heading up to the Cairngorms for a bit of boarding next weekend - Scottish Winter in all its glory from home to the Highlands! 😃â„ï¸â›„ï¸
