  1. SAME!!!! 30 seconds ago! hailstorm then massive snowflakes then huge flash and massive rumble of thunder! Massive snowflakes now! Already thick on the ground - that was unbelievable!!!!
  2. Yes - Glasgow city centre is a slush fest yet most places 5 miles away to the North, South, East and West have snow on the ground. I live 7 miles South of Glasgow City Centre and have a couple of inches so far. (see attached) Looks like you could be joining the fun in the near future going by the latest charts - Easterly might be on the table! Look forward to seeing some snow pictures in this thread before Winter is over!
  3. Morning all! Great to see so many pictures and happy people! Sorry for the folk who have not had any yet. Absolutely knackered! Woke up just after 3am with a blustery wind - looked out and one of the heaviest snow showers I have ever seen was taking place! Lasted a good twenty five minutes - was a total whiteout. They have been on and off here ever since - about to be plastered again shortly. Looks amazing for the rest of today and even Wednesday night/Thursday morning has upgraded to heavy snow on the Metoffice website for lots of people including myself! What a time to be alive!
  4. Someone asked on Twitter earlier why there is no Amber warning - they got this response.
  5. As long as the wind keeps South of me and the Snow goes through my area. (As per latest Metoffice warning/GFS chart attached then I will be happy. Or just to be greedy give me gale force/severe gale force winds and heavy snow combined!
  6. Now this is exciting - Thundersnow in with a shout tonight and tomorow looks fantastic. This could be (for once) very special in the Central belt.
  7. This a great read! Sean Batty knows the score! https://stv.tv/news/scotland/1406208-thundersnow-and-high-winds-set-to-batter-scotland/ I have also managed to get the day off work tomorrow so hopefully this is going to be epic!
  8. Morning all Still looking great for tonight and all day tomorow for parts of Scotland including here. Slightly disappointed though in the track of the storm for early hours of Thursday - currently looking like it is going to wash away all my snow that will be thick on the ground for two days at that point...we can but dream! (As I type this it has just updated to the heavy snow icon below ) It is going to be very interesting to see what happens with the above - prolonged rain or snow for Central Lowlands late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning? We shall see! Have a good day.
  9. Tell you what though I can’t wait for Tomorow night/Tuesday - we could be in for some pretty impressive snowfall. Or it could revert to type for us in Central Scotland and end up as sleety pish! Surely not though with all the above screenshots and mine below!
  10. Tuesday is looking incredible here - Metoffice keep ramping up the snow more and more every couple of hours. Heavy snow and a howling wind - proper Mid-Winter Scottish weather!
  11. I know most of the UK won’t see any snow over the next five days but I am buzzing like an old fridge for the coming week! Very Wintry week ahead here in Scotland - especially my location. The GFS chart and Metoffice snapshots of my location below sums up what is currently expected from Monday evening throughout the week - can see a moderate accumulation of snow here on the ground for five days. Have had a fantastic Winter up here so far. I really hope everyone else joins in the fun soon - still month and a half of Winter left so keep the faith!
  12. Always here in Scotland mate - best place for snow! If a potent Easterly arrives at some point this Winter/Early Spring you will get lots of snow - it is surely only a matter of time. Plus I get extremely jealous of the glorious Summer weather you ladies and gents get nearly every year while it is 15 degrees and cloudy up here! All the best for the rest of Winter - hope you all get a snow fix soon.
  13. Spot on Nick. I am based in West Central Scotland and Metoffice are going for 5cms for low ground on latest weather warning for Monday night through Tuesday. (See attached)
  14. Well Monday night through Tuesday is looking like fun here - this is what Winter is all about for a snow lover! Frequent lightning and blizzards also? Oh go on then!
  15. The uppers being quoted are four to five days away? I don’t see why people need to stop looking. The cold spell for next week is nailed on - potent North Westerly is incoming and the majority of members currently posting charts live in the areas most likely to be seeing the heavy and frequent hail/sleet/snow/thunder showers. What is there to be miserable about? I can’t wait for it to arrive.
  16. Absolutely spot on - only folk who get a Winter in Scotland nowadays are people who live in the Highlands. All I seem to get in the Central Lowlands is a few hours of snowfall twice a year which stays on the ground for 24 hours! It has gotten so bad that every year I need to climb mountains to see any snowfall on the ground! Due to my job and becoming a dad this March I can’t even move away! I would sell my granny to live in the Highlands!
  17. Not the best outlook for Winter weather on low ground South of the Highlands anytime soon. All I can see is some snow in Northern Scotland and snow over 300 meters elsewhere up to the New Year. (bog standard Scottish Winter weather) Looks pretty miserable for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with heavy rain and strong winds for a large part of Scotland. Bring back that wall to wall sunshine and hard frosts I said was boring me last week. Heading up Cairngorm mountain and Ben Nevis between Christmas and New Year so will get snow there at least! Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!
