  1. Im right in the middle of two bands of snow! This is so god damn irritating. NW Kent to central London and east to west Essex getting the snow. Me in the middle with only a few flurries.
  2. I seem to be in the middle of two bands of snow. One passing from Kent into SE London moving WNW along the Thames, and one passing into West Essex. Just my luck.
  3. Croydon is an Arctic outpost in an otherwise temperate island.
  4. Moderate snow now turned to very light sleety drizzle.
  5. Some decent moderate snow falling now. Really struggling to settle at all because its so damp and slushy. EDIT: Now stopped!
  6. Well, we're now into a less cold regime and its back to more detailed model watching for a reload. This winter is different, so a week from now we could well be back in the freezing cold and snow. That's the hope anyway.
  7. I don't see much settling now unless we get an almighty downpour. There's been a fairly big thaw today and it's quite slushy and wet. Most if the lying snow that is left is on the grass. This has been an abysmal easterly except for a few in Kent. Still can't complain about Tuesday night till last night when the thaw started.
  8. If you look at this radar from Holland you can see the area of snow that is heading towards the SE. It looks fairly light, but I think that is part of whats meant to come in tomorrow. http://www.meteogrou...etherlands.html EDIT: Actually that might be going to East Anglia.
  9. Is anyone else slightly confused by the radar and whats going on here? In the past half hour light snow has been falling in London. It seems to have come up from the SE and is moving in exactly the same direction and speed as the showers that are moving into Central Southern and SW England, almost like it is part of a weather front. But the weird thing is that it seems to have gone over the stream of showers the are moving in a NE-SW direction over Kent and Sussex. How can that be possible? Apart from a small strip of Kent, this easterly/north-easterly has really turned into a damp squib. Very disappointing.
  10. I basically think, and this seems to be backed up by the continuous tv forecasts for snow, that late tonight and through tomorrow we're going to see outbreaks of light/moderate snow spreading west. The showers over the SE are fizzling out and will die out. But the snow thats moving west across Germany and the Low Countries will head towards us. Not massive depths for us, just fairly persistent light/moderate snow which will then shift further north and west during Monday. The next 6-8 hours will probably be mainly dry for most of us. All we can hope for is that the snow peps up a bit more as it crosses the North Sea, although I wouldnt expect it to do so very much. Then we have to look towards Tuesday/Wednesday and just hope that the Low moving in from the SW extends a bit further NE than is currently being forecast, but not too far NE, so that we potentially see heavy snow from that. But that is still a relatively long way off and I wouldnt focus too much on the details of it until about Monday evening/Tuesday. The threat at the moment is mainly for the SW and Wales. Far SW will see rain.
  11. Yeh but if that goes anywhere in Britain it will be East Anglia. That also looks very light.
  12. We got a cm or so from the snow this afternoon. Hasnt snowed now for a couple of hours. Hoping for more tonight/tomorrow. Fear im just too far north west of the heaviest stuff. Its all streaming into north-west Kent.
  13. What direction is that moving? If its due west it will hit East Anglia
  14. Interesting forecast on the Beeb. Showed more snow on Monday, and the low coming in from the SW on tuesday. Dan Corbett said at the moment looks like the cold air will win out, so that could mean snow for most rather than it turning to rain. Will have to watch that one
  15. Youre on the coast. And i think there are slightly milder uppers coming over from the continent if im not mistaken.
  16. So guys, what is the actual plan now? Are there going to be more showers developing over the north sea or is that area of snow over Holland going to shift west towards us? It looks quite light snow over there at the moment. Will it pep up before it gets here?
  17. The latest beeb forecasts graphics were absolutely abysmal. It only showed a tiny blob of snow over west Kent and east sussex, even though at the moment there's snow falling all over the south east. He then said the snow shifting north and westwards over the next 24 hours, but there was virtually no snow on the map!
  18. That doesnt look particularly heavy. But i suppose it will pick up moisture over the north sea. Correct me if im wrong
  19. Heavy snow for the past half hour, starting to ease off a bit, but still snowing nicely.
  20. Proper heavy snow shower now. Finally! Seems like the showers are starting to move a bit further west.
  21. Im in Ilford. It does seem to have started taking a slightly more westerly track. Could be on to something...
  22. I seem to be slightly too far north-west for this. Story of the past 2 days...
  23. Its crazy that in a NE airflow, snow has just moved across the Midlands, through Birmingham into Gloucestershire and into SE Wales, and here in London we're getting NOTHING. Ok, the snow may be light over there but at least theyre getting something. In a very frustrating snow shadow at the moment. If the winds are switching to a ENE any chance of some of the making it westwards towards east London?
  24. According to Rob McElwee. Although i wouldnt pay much attention to it. Just watch the radar tomorrow night. Tuesday night affected a lot more people than they forecast.
