    Loch Tay

From the album: Scotland April 2016

  2. Another unseasonal day with the fells looking more like winter than just a day or so before the May bank holiday. Plenty of showers through the day with a wintry mix here and snow inland with some elevation, max temp this afternoon 8.2°C but feeling much cooler in the breeze.
  3. Got back from Scotland this afternoon, was -4°C first thing this morning before setting off. Heading southwards from Loch Tay we drove through sleet, snow & hail with temps varying between 1°C to 5°C. Similar story back in Cumbria with heavy wintry showers, max temp on my weather station today has been 5.6°C, checked the calender and yep it's May in less then 3 days...
  4. Not very spring like up here today! Stopped at the edge of Loch Tay in the sunshine it looked stunning but only 5°C at 3pm in a biting wind... Got to the cottage about 15 mins later just before a mini blizzard blew through, love it! This To this
  5. Today hasn't been as good as recent days with more cloud around and some showers this morning, not a bad evening though with some late sun as it heads towards the horizon. Top temp today was 10.6°C, currently 8.4°C. Setting off to Scotland tomorrow morning and it's looking likely that I'll see some falling snow and it certainly isn't going to be warm! Latest output has 850's around -8/-9°C with sub zero dew points, any ppn will likely be wintry.
  6. A few light showers over the last hour but skies clearing now with some warm sunshine. Low of 6°C overnight, currently 10.2°C and feeling pleasant in the light wind.
  7. 1.8°C at dawn with a little bit more cloud than the last few mornings. Shap was down to -4°C a short while ago although temps will respond quickly once the sun gets to work. I'm off to Scotland on Monday for few days and it's looking like I might see some snow falling
  8. Ian also predicted that March would be mainly dominated by strong west/north westerlies bringing cold air off the Greenland Icecap, frequent rain in the north west & Scotland along with gales at times across the north with the south having some dry sunny days later in the month as the storm track shifts further north. After an unsettled first week or so we had nearly two weeks of settled weather under high pressure, the north was drier than average & parts of Scotland much drier than average with around 50% or less of the monthly average rainfall. Temperatures in the north were a little above average overall and Braemar was the hotspot recording 18.7°C on the 17th. The south of the UK saw average to above average rainfall for the month and Storm Katie brought heavy rain and damaging winds to the southern half of the UK on the 28th, the IOW recorded gusts in excess of 100mph.
  9. Another beautiful spring day with blue skies and sunshine. Cooler than yesterday though but still into double figures with a current temp of 12.3°C, and that's in the cooler air with 850's around -4c, feels warm in the sun.
  10. Just come back from Keswick and the car was showing 19°C, whether its accurate I'm not sure but had the air con for a bit. 16°C back home.
  11. Wall to wall warm sunshine, feels like a summer morning! Overnight min of 7.2°C, currently 13.4°C with light winds, feeling very pleasant in the sun and comfortable enough for just a t-shirt.
  12. Pretty much perfect day so far with barely a cloud to be seen, light winds and a current temp of 12.3°C after a low overnight of 2.6°C.
  13. Beautiful day with light winds and a current temp of 12.6°C. Just got back from a walk at Bassenthwaite Lake, great views today.
  14. Great start to Tuesday with plenty of sunshine, chilly first thing @ 2.4°C but now up 9.2°C in light winds and feeling warm in the sun.
  15. Some sporadic drizzle this morning with a keen westerly breeze but much better this afternoon with some sunshine and lighter winds. Max temp so far 9.2°C and feeling pleasant in the sun. Pressure on the rise, currently 1020mb.
  16. Cloudy breezy and a bit damp this morning, just a blip though as the fine weather will be back later and last much of the week
  17. Clear & frosty start to Sunday with an air temp of -0.3°C at dawn and a light frost, risen to +2.3°C now as the sun gets higher.
  18. Chilly day for the time of year with a max so far of 7.3°C and a cool N/NW breeze. Quite a few showers developing on the radar moving down from Scotland.
  19. Chilly start here with plenty of sunshine, currently 1.4°C, it won't take too long for the sun to work it's magic raising the temps.
  20. Chilly now! 4.5°C with DP of 1.2°C in a biting NE'ly breeze, got up to 9.3°C earlier in the sun. Mainly dry all day but some showers this evening.
  21. Cloudy with sporadic drizzle ahead of the cold front moving south, feeling cool @ 6.7°C and a light NW'ly wind.
  22. Much better start to the day, started off a bit grey but some more sunshine developing now. 9.7°C atm after a low of 6.4°C, gentle NE'ly breeze.
