Interesting, no good for gardeners with tender spring plants! Frost at this time of year disappears rapidly once the sun rises, a week or so ago Altnaharra recorded -8°C at dawn and 2/3 hours later the temperature had risen to +6°C in the ever strengthening sun. There would be some large temperature contrasts if we got a clear high following a cold northerly (for the time of year) into May with some frosts possible, and into the afternoon temps could be heading towards double figures. I'll take anything if it's dry and sunny! Nearly managed two weeks with little or no rain last month with plenty of sunny days, it was great!

Another chilly day with a max of 8.2°C, rain cleared before midday leaving a half decent afternoon with some sunny spells, nice sunset this evening. Cool and unsettled outlook with rain and blustery April showers. -

Back from Leeds not a bad weekend, a bit wet yesterday morning before the rain cleared north after lunchtime in time for a long walk round Eccup and near the Emmerdale village on the Harewood Estate. Was sunny coming over Stainmore but not so sunny back home, it's dry though. -

Just started raining, looks like a wet day coming up and the southerly wind is increasing, currently 7.3c. Off to Leeds later this morning for the weekend so hopefully not too wet there. -

Some beefy showers over the last hour with some hail mixed in, no lightening. Wonder how long I'll have to wait for the first thunderstorm of 2016! -
Not a bad day with a few showers during the morning, long sunny spells this afternoon. Max temp 9.1c, currently 8.0c with a moderate SW wind making it feel cool but pleasant enough with shelter in the sun. Some pics from earlier.

Windy, cool & showery Easter Sunday, quite squally at times with periods of sunshine then heavy rain/hail showers along with gusty winds. Max temp 7.8c. -
The NetWx SR 4km model predicting gusts around 50-60mph across the far S/SE into Monday morning, higher along coastal areas. Strongest winds through the channel and along coastal areas on the ECM 00z, wind speeds around 30-40kts.

What a miserable day! Wind and rain from the word go and it's still pouring down.

Tonight's storm up north could potentially bring severe gales with gusts around 60-70mph+ for a time over Scotland, even inland according to the 12z. The Met warning mentions the possibility of isolated gusts around 75-80mph in the far north, yet has no name. 12z ARPEGE predicting gusts around 80mph clipping the far north of Ireland and into Western Scotland later this evening. Latest satellite looking quite angry with the signature cloud hook of a deepening storm. The strongest of the winds from Katie look like missing the mainland but clipping the far S/SE with gusts around 50-60mph+. Very rough through the channel with gusts of 70mph+ possible for a while, not pleasant if you're taking a ferry crossing!

More cloud around over the last few days but still with some sunny breaks, was nice for a few hours this afternoon with some blue sky temporarily. Back to unsettled weather in the coming days with wind and rain the main feature Nearly two weeks since it last rained, can't really grumble and it had to break down at some point...

Been fine for over a week now and most days have had wall to wall sunshine, been a few cloudy mornings but the sun always came out. Not too warm though with temps around 7-10c by day with some chilly nights, not too fussed about temps as the weather has been fantastic.
-
Bit more cloud around this morning but still some sunny breaks, currently 9.1c.
-
Cloudy morning with a sunny afternoon, barely a cloud to be seen as the sun sets. Top temp of 10.3c.
-
A bit more cloud first thing this morning with a low of 3.9c overnight, turned into another glorious day with sun & blue skies, 10.2c atm.
-
2.5c and feeling cold so may get another light frost if it stays clear.
-
Yes, a great spell of settled and sunny weather with little wind, seems like it hasn't rained properly for ages! The ground is drying out nicely anyway. Not far off 19c in Braemar this afternoon so feeling more summer like there today than mid March. Glad the month hasn't been dominated by strong westerly winds and rain as we needed a break like this after the dire winter just gone.

Loving this settled weather! Not especially warm here but can't really complain with all the sunshine.

Sunshine all day but never managed double figures with a max of 9.2c earlier, feeling decidedly cool now @ 5.9c. Don't care how warm/cool it is as long as we can keep the sunny days! Great spell of weather.
