A memorable 48 hrs of weather or so. A Severe storm the like we haven't seen in a long time - unusual given the wind was a north one... followed by best November snowfall since 2010.
Had a better fall of snow in Nov’96 here

Moderate snow again, proper flakes

Getting heavier and settling on some surfaces, if that’s happening here then anywhere else must do pretty well

Very light flurries here, couple miles in from the coast

Evening Mark.
Sadly the Running Pump has gone. Probably for good. We are nearer the Hand & Dagger at Treales but the Plough at Eaves has reopened and is well recommended.
Yes changing seasons on the common. Usually see one or two Deer but the highlight last week was a glorious Barn Owl at dusk.Ow lovely, love the hand and dagger, definitely be going again soon, maybe a bit choppy on the sea front tomorrow evening into Saturday here in Blackpool

I'm thinking Chill Factore for artificial snow and hopefully a 5 minute drive up the hill for the real stuff.
Haha, the real stuff

6th February 1996. Battleground setup and for once, cold won! Snow nirvana for those in the west. Blackpool became Whitepool.
I remember this, couldn’t get out the back door

This is an imby post, but because the past week has been very disappointing on the snowfall front here, unusually so compared to the more snow barren parts of the NW, I'm much more hopeful of some snowfall within the new week, if the current models verify. Give me a full on atlantic frontal attack in cold air, and your talking, none of this marginal showery, trough business.
Hi Damian
same here frontal attack into cold air is the best bet, although the easterly of Late January ‘96 gave a good cover to the coast here, plus the infamous February event, also 2013 we had quite a notable spell here in the January from the south east if I remember correctly

Crazy, the punishment for living at the coast I guess. You get the beach but miss the snow, lol.
The worst of both worlds

What was the air temp when the rain started? Fleetwood is reporting 5C, so it's no wonder
+2C It was -1 for ages beforehand Everything frozen

EURO4 forecasting showers starting to appear in the next hour, falling as snow even to the coast. So keeping an eye on that, as it's looking fairly accurate comparing it to the radar so far
jaffa cakesed with rain here not long back

Quite an intense tiny shower been on the radar last few frames between IOM and Cumbria, zoomed in there’s a tiny pink speck, so is this saying that the more intense the shower there’s more likely to be a bit of snow in them?

Starting to feel bitter now in the wind, showers becoming more frequent and wintry, plenty of ice in these now

I remember some Snow events in the early 90’s which consisted of basically high pressure building over the uk, a week of cold and frost, then weather systems bumping into the cold air depositing an inch or 2 of wet snow enough to mess about in at least, albeit gone by the next day, and this was on the coast, anyone else remember such set ups?
