  1. Hi Dave and others interested in how to get 2 cams on one last year i used a stereo camera bar got it from amazon.uk or ebay perhaps it was about £15 you can get metal micro adjustable one from the widescreen centre (£50 to £60) probably other cam shops http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stereo-dual-camera-bracket-slide/dp/B003BPZ55Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1303463730&sr=8-1 its made of a softish plastic material but worked ok Pat see my set up and went to a camera shop with James bought an expencive manfrotto setup he got 2 cameras and HDcam on his lightning tower
  2. I was looking to the southeast of Dallas on the forcast models towards Louisiana coast i was thinking a thunderstorm possibilty as the afternoon seabreezes bring the hot gulf air ashore and it hits the colder land mass air would probably lead to typical uk type afternoon summertime showers now that would be desparate times but i think there may be some action to the west of Dallas in the mountains thunderstorms for lightning shots i think Paul has done or mentioned that option before, I still think for tour 1 there will be some rapid changes as no forecast in the world is that accurite more than 4 to 5 days ahead after more than 3 or 4 days meteoroligists always quailfy there forecasts with terms like "may " "a chance" "50%" "10%" etc
  3. i will be up for that Pat not too many beers though will bring gps for pat just in case just noticed my new tripop with paning video head has a catch that will not pass under the stereo plate that i want to fit to it so as i can have camcorder plus camera with lightning trigger on it going to have to try and find some sort off riser or even make one to fit between plate and stereo bar any one got any ideas as i don't want to take or use 2 tripods to enable quick "get in the car" calls will miss Jo's descriptive adjectives ordering us back into cars this year bag packing at moment
  4. remember last year the models were not so good then what happened a big improvement as the big days happened so everything crossed it will be alright on the day including on the 10th May Oklahomas 2nd largest Tornado outbrake if i remember correctly things were not looking too good stormwise even 5 days possibly even 4 before
  5. still plenty off severe/tornado warnings plenty of mesos and a few tornado signatures on glevel3 dangerous night time situation ongoing in Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Arkansas and Ohio lots of listners on weatherunderground weather radio most chasers still out have been left behind by fast moving storms up to 65mph
  6. a person who posts on Stormtrack forum has put together a good website with some good charts for stormchasing forecasting http://www.karstenha...s-WRF/index.php link to Stormtrack page http://www.stormtrac...-for-the-Plains he is in Germany but has chased in us http://www.superzelle.de/ will look for some more my usual site that i look at http://www.twisterdata.com/
  7. live Broadcast plenty of lightning at times when they show a live view http://www.wsfa.com/...ed&rnd=59479142
  8. plenty off active warning now plus tornado reported on radio looks like Reed Timmers got a big crack in his windscreen large tornado now on Timmers cam
  9. storms kicking off early Tornado watch already in Mississippi was a tvs on GRLevel3 acouple of minutes back nw of Yazoo City that got hit bad last year just listning to weather radio on http://meridianmsweatherlive.webs.com/noaawxradioseverewx.htm severe weather forcast today including reports of Tornados and large Hail at the moment
  10. watching the tail end storms south of Dallas on GRLevel3 the last storm has grown in hight the last few updates lots of mesos on the last but one they may fall apart as night time cooling takes effect though as i type a meso has shown on the tailender nws seem a bit slow in putting out severe warnings as has been noted by others overnite probably due to individual meteorologists take on it as i have seen severe warning on less active storms
  11. on my Twitter feed chaser Verne Carlson found himself in a snowstorm ! about 16:45 yesterday 10:45 in us he may of been a bit ne of the action though but several others reported chasing with snow patches on the ground waiting to see todays crop of youtube videos perhaps a snownado

  14. I know they are not storm chasing but look at these photos of that volcano that done its best to wreck last years storm chase for us http://www.facebook....110258449014653 awe inspiring is my thought

  17. YIKES i wondered what those huge flying insects that looked suspiciously like giant wasps were that i see flying around the citrus groves in the San Joaquin Valley in California see quite a few Hummingbirds as well they were cool
  18. yesterday was Reed Timmers birthday of TVNs Dominator fame also of Dogs32 AKA " Pat Lightning Timmer" of Netweather fame
  19. yes most warnings for international events are given in Z time ie gmt so that there are no time mistakes due differant time zones
  20. tsunami warning with arrival times on here http://www.weather.g...11.03.11.083004 shocking may not be an appropriate word it is far beyond that even horrific probably can not put it in context, for those in trouble. i hope the people on some of the smaller pacific islands will be ok and of course sympathy for those already affected in Japan and not forgetting Christchurch in New Zealand recently effected.
  21. on the Stormtrack Forum equipment lists for stormchasing Safety Specs are always on the lists to wear in car if caught in large hail to protect your eyes from glass in the event of windscreen shattering even a dent in the glass can cause glass splinters to fly off the glass inside the car i had some in my grab bag last year a Dickies pair you can get 3M and several other trendy types that look like sunglasses I think yellow to give high contrast or clear for at night probably best but any are better than none. Buy your bug spray out there much cheaper than in uk and get far more for your money this one worked for me last year you need to try to avoid mozzie bites in us as West Nile Fever is a nasty that is spread by mozzies in the area of us we are visiting http://www.cdc.gov/n...ncidbyState.htm you can read about it here http://en.wikipedia....West_Nile_virus don't worry about it too much though as the incidence rate is low just something to be aware off
  22. don't forget the scorpians i will bring an ultraviolet torch with me so we can check for them in hotels rooms it is recommended in Texas/Oklahoma in fact all the chase states that you check for them weekly and capture them to put back outside and yes i can confirm Pat and the Black Widows in fact i see a couple of em outside the derelict gas station when i started lifting concrete slabs to photograph one they didnt want to pose for camera, and yes i would like a pic of a Rattler also, the only ones i see last year stuffed in the Big Texan gift shop they were also on the menu has anyone tried them yet when netweather crew has been there.
  23. when's it out on dvd perhaps we may get to see it in 3d on an off day thats if there are any this year
