Rain but no thunder or lightening.

Managed to see one cg strike and a cc strike, heard a few rumbles and now seems to be clearing but on the lightning maps showing a lot of action to the west and east of me, typical I'm in the clear gap in between 😂 hoping it might re charge a bit later but forecasts are saying it's due to clear up.

Those cells near Coventry could become interesting to me if they hey continue to grow and keep heading north.

The day I choose to leave Congleton to visit family in Sandbach...Congleton get two storms, Sandbach gets zero. Typical. The latest one though was slightly closer to allow me to hear some occasional distant rumbles but overall a very disappointing day here. The forecasts in general were spot on though, most places in the warning zone got something. Think that's it for today now as it is all clearing northwards leaving a dry night to follow

Strange way for the flash to be captured on my video I’ve just gone back through IMG_6130.thumb.png.bb22a43f09bef364ab6555a8ec24700b.png

Showers didn't electrify, but did have some big raindrops and the odd bit of small hail. Seems the Tamworth cell took the rest of the energy and left the rest with none.

Had a decent if brief thunderstorm at 4pm here which seemed to form and back build overhead before pushing north.

Already feeling much fresher again now.

Retreated back home after seeing a couple of IC bolts on that storm over Manchester, was never going to be able to chase further North than there due to the road network but that storm looks to have blown up now! Some stuff approaching here from the SE but barely any lightning, think today will be classified as a bust for me! Certainly not the same everywhere though!

I feel very jealous of anyone that lives in Skipton where that insane storm is currently parked over, what I would do to get a storm like that this summer.

looks like those cells west of Wolverhampton fizzled out already, that was probably our last chance to join in the action today. Oh well, the wait continues. Closer today but not quite close enough lol

A powerful storm ongoing near Skipton at the moment. Looks Supercellular and the Arome shows a great increase in the 0-1km SRH shown by an increase of length and curvature in the hodograph which suggests this could be a Supercell with rotation. Good thermodynamics at play as well, this storm probably is producing large hail.

I was about to post that!, I reckon there must have been a bit of rotation at that moment.

Direct impact at the top end of the Goyt, some close strikes but heavy rain made it difficult to get much on camera. It's something at least 👍

I'd be genuinely interested to try and find out if we were the only town in the country within the 60% severe weather warning that didn't get a storm today....
