There have been some lovely photos on here tonight, so lovely to see, since I have a digital camera that just produced dots! Have been watching the moon turn back to being almost in full light again now and the whole thing has been an amazing sight. Can't actually believe I am writing my first proper post on here at 1.30 in the morning! Wouldn't have missed the eclipse for anything though, it was fabulous to see.

welcome to the mad house !

Snap! I was abut to write the same thing. :(

And it doesn't matter what camera you have, BG. Taking photos of the moon means you do need specialist kit, but general pictures can be taken on any camera. Even point and shoot ones can produce stunning results. Just look at the quality of the pictures in the monthly competitions. Most are probably taken by people with inexpensive cameras, and the standard is amazing. No doubt you will be posting some soon, too. Good luck and happy snapping, and posting. :(

Thanks Kelly, thought it was about time I stopped lurking and said something! The only problem now with me is that once I start, I don't usually stop!

Thanks for that too Blackie, your photos are stunning. Since I seem to be technically inept, I'm not sure you will be seeing any pictures from me anytime soon, but may now be braver about posting generally!

Thanks Russ, I have been made to feel very welcome! But your comment about the novel does make me think I should change my name... Mind you, that would most likely be completely beyond my technical capabilities

Welcome to the forum Bunny Girl.. :(

Enthusiasm knows no bounds at times on here in the various threads.. Tonight has been no different.

I'm jealous of some of the photos on here.. Might have to revert back to 35mm for a while..

Some fantastic photos.. even OON managed to get something decent without a sheep in sight..

All photos were made with a 400mm F 6.3 telelens (1.6x analog lens so actually 600mm) a Canon Eos 350D piggyback on a telescope.

Longest exposure: 40sec on 200 ISO.

Enjoy

The 'Blood Moon' used to be believed to be a 'portent ' for disaster......half way through photographing it my Fuji E550 blew up!!! The lens froze and the gubbins that holds the protective 'screen' when not in use became chewed up in the lens mechanism. Booo Hoooo............

Lovely shots there, Jurgen. I used a similar combination, with a Canon EOS 20D and EF100-400L lens, giving an effective 580mm at full zoom with the sensor magnification.

You might want to look at the thread we had going last night. Quite a few pictures from different people on there as it was happening and just afterwards. This is one of the pages: http://www.netweather.tv/forum/index.php?s...6461&st=153. :drinks:
