30c in Exeter 🙂Our record is 33.5 in 1976 shocked it's not been surpassed in all that time but it came very close last year!  Our climate is warming....I wonder what July will bring as that's the warmest month

Which is in Exeter, well the Wikipedia page for Exeter is well out of date then but it's strange as our August record went last year which was updated on the wiki page?  It wouldn't surprise me though as I find it hard to believe that 33.5c has stood so long (it was reached in June 1976)

not really Broadclyst is a cpl miles east of the edge of Pinhoe (most easterly suburb of Exeter)..dont think the weather station there is an official station Broadclyst is covered by the Exeter Airport station

Well there it is, the June 13th curse has been lifted. It has been a cracking June here so far even after the cool opening week here courtesy of North Sea cloud.

No significant rain since May 14th here I don't think.

Atmospheric circulation patterns are proving to be very stubborn this year, the temperature anomalies come the end of the month are going to look very impressive in northern and western areas if this overall pattern persists.

We'll probably get a brief unsettled interlude next week though before attention turns to the heat to our south behind a ridging Azores high...

So the question is… was it finished by Porthmadog or Cumbria?

Yes I know lol but these two have already happened. I’d like to know which one can’t first.

Hoping it was Cumbria as that would make the ending of the enigma an enigma in itself!

Looks like this is it for today. I believe Cumbria broke it first according to a few weather presenters.

What's the next record to be broken then?

30 deg is a man made number  on a man made scale, had it been in the old days of Farenheit we would probably be talking 90 degF which is 32 deg C.Just how many days of Summer have not made tht temp?

Fahrenheit is a man made scale, a German Polish scientist. Hilarious seeing reports of the Daily Mail a few years ago quoting it as a British scale post Brexit and reviving it as they thought Celsius was something to do with the European Union. Oh well.

And what temperature scale is not man-made?

There are a lot more dates in the summer that have never reached 90F.
