UK Outlook for Wednesday 28 Jul 2010 to Friday 6 Aug 2010:

Northwestern parts of the UK are likely to be rather cloudy with rain or showers, although some brighter spells are possible, with these most likely towards the east of high ground. Temperatures here are likely to be around normal. It should be much drier elsewhere with variable amounts of cloud, some prolonged spells of sunshine and above normal to warm temperatures. There is, however, a low risk of showers in southeastern parts of the UK on Wednesday, with some turning locally heavy and thundery. The start of August has indications that northern parts of the UK will keep more changeable conditions and normal temperatures. The best chance of drier and brighter weather should be across much of England and Wales, where temperatures should remain warm.

Outlook for Thursday 5 Aug 2010 to Saturday 14 Aug 2010:Cool and breezy on Thursday, with perhaps some heavy rain in southern and eastern England at first, then sunshine and showers for most parts, occasionally heavy. Showers should then become restricted to northern and eastern parts of the UK by Friday, with drier, brighter weather elsewhere. The weekend and the new week look to continue fairly unsettled for many parts of the UK, particularly for Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England, with occasional rain or showers. But some drier and brighter intervals can be expected in between, especially later in the week, and also further south into the rest of England and Wales. Temperatures should recover to around normal into the new week for many, then occasionally rise above normal in the south of the UK.

UK Outlook for Friday 6 Aug 2010 to Sunday 15 Aug 2010:

After a largely dry start in eastern parts on Friday, rain or showers will spread to most parts of the UK during the weekend. The rain will be heaviest in the north and west of the UK, including Scotland and Northern England, but it will tend to be a little drier and brighter further south and east with a few showers. The following week will gradually see the more unsettled conditions becoming more confined to northern parts of the UK, with drier and brighter weather further south, especially in southwest England and Wales. Temperatures should be around normal for many during the period, then occasionally rise above normal in southern parts of the UK as the drier and sunnier weather makes an influence.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 10 Aug 2010 to Thursday 19 Aug 2010:

The start of this period will be characterised unsettled conditions, with some heavy rain or showers for many parts of the UK, however tending to become drier in the south from midweek. Indications suggest more in the way of drier conditions for the south of the UK from Thursday with the best of any sunshine in the southeast and southwest. However, a continued progression of mainly weak frontal systems is expected across the north, hence spells of rain or showers here. The southeast may become warm at times later, but elsewhere temperatures will be near normal, and rather cool in wetter parts of the north. Generally fairly breezy throughout this period, with winds becoming fresh or strong at times in more exposed parts of the north.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 11 Aug 2010 to Friday 20 Aug 2010:

The trend to drier conditions will progressively develop throughout this period. Breezy at first with scattered showers for many areas, especially in the east. From the end of the week and through the weekend, mainly dry conditions look to become established across much of the UK with increasing amounts of sunshine. However, northwestern areas will always see a greater chance of increased cloud and rain or showers at times. After a rather cool start for many places, temperatures should recover to near normal, perhaps becoming warm in places away from the northwest. Winds on the whole should become mainly light or gentle, however it is likely to remain breezy at times in more northwestern parts of the UK.

There should be a good deal of dry weather for much of England and Wales into the weekend, but across northwest Scotland it may turn cloudier with an increased chance of rain. This will gradually spread to remaining northwestern parts of the UK, turning heavy and persistent at times. For the following week, southern parts of the UK should remain dry with sunny spells. Further north, it is likely to be cloudier with a chance of rain or showers, especially in the northwest. This more unsettled weather may spread into southern parts of the UK by the end of the period. Winds will remain light in the south, but stronger across northern parts of the UK. Temperatures will stay close to normal, but should be warmer in southern parts.

UK Outlook for Saturday 21 Aug 2010 to Monday 30 Aug 2010:

The last weeks of August are likely to be generally unsettled with showers or longer periods of rain for many, but also some drier brighter interludes, especially in the south and east.
