UK Outlook for Friday 23 Apr 2010 to Sunday 2 May 2010:

Although cold northerly winds with wintry showers will affect the far north at first, for much of this period, winds from between south and west are likely to persist across the UK bringing unsettled weather to all parts. This will mean some cloudy and wet days with spells of rain, interspersed with brighter days with sunny spells and showers. Most of the rain is likely across northern and western areas, especially the northwest. It will sometimes be windy in these areas as well with a risk of gales in exposed parts. Driest weather expected in the south and east, especially the southeast. Temperatures near normal to rather warm, the warmest conditions likely in the southeast.

UK Outlook for Sunday 25 Apr 2010 to Tuesday 4 May 2010:

For the first week or so of the outlook period, northern and western parts of the UK will see a good deal of unsettled weather, with cloud and outbreaks of rain or showers at times, although some drier and brighter intervals are also likely. Further south and east, more settled weather with a reasonable amount of sunshine is expected to prevail, but the odd shower should not be ruled out even here. Temperatures are expected to be generally near normal in northern and western areas and rather warm, occasionally warm, in the southeast.

Most areas will be unsettled at first with showers and also some longer spells of rain, especially the southeast, but with snow likely to fall over northern Scottish hills. Winds will be mainly northeasterly and strong at times, especially in exposed northern and eastern locations. Over the weekend, continuing unsettled, the main risk of heavier rain transferring towards the northwest as a northwesterly flow develops. Below normal temperatures, with some overnight frosts, will trend towards nearer normal. Beyond the weekend, the unsettled northwesterly type is expected to persist, with bright spells and showery outbreaks of rain at times. However there are indications that temperatures are expected to continue to recover later, especially in the south, where it may well become mostly dry at times.

A dry and fine day for many on Thursday, but cloudier conditions with outbreaks of rain will move into the northwest later in the day. It will be windy across northern parts making it feel rather cold. The cloud and showery rain continues to move down the country on Friday, but the south may stay largely dry. Over next weekend and into the following week it will remain on the unsettled side with brighter intervals and scattered showers or longer spells of rain, these falling as snow over the hills in Scotland. Some southern parts may well escape the bulk of the showers and remain fine and largely dry though. Temperatures are anticipated to be mainly rather cold with some overnight frosts, but near normal in brighter spots.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 19 May 2010 to Friday 28 May 2010:

During the first half of the period, the weather is expected to be rather unsettled with variable cloud amounts and rain at times, including the odd heavier burst. Bright or sunny intervals are also likely however, the best of these in the south and east. During the brighter periods, temperatures are anticipated to be warm, but closer to normal for the time of year where more cloud and rain prevails. Beyond the weekend, the unsettled theme continues, with rain or showers likely in northern and eastern areas, the best of the brighter spells therefore now in the southwest. With northerly or northeasterly winds, it is anticipated that temperatures will gradually decrease relative to the seasonal average, becoming rather cool everywhere by the end of the week.

UK Outlook for Friday 21 May 2010 to Sunday 30 May 2010:

Initially northwestern areas will be rather cloudy with occasional rain or drizzle, although elsewhere we can expect many places to be dry and bright, but with heavy showers or thunderstorms affecting some inland locations. Then as we head into the last week of the month, it looks likely that largely fine conditions will continue in many areas, especially in southern, central and western parts, but that northern and northeastern areas will tend to be cloudier and breezier at times with a higher risk of showers. The temperature during this spell is likely to be warm or locally very warm at first, with a generally rather humid feel, but as we head towards the end of the month it is expected to become cooler in northern and eastern parts.
