sub 10 year in the bag - unless today comes in at about 7C (not completely out of the question in Steeton, W Yorks)

Unless the world boils today (which at the moment looks unlikely, I am still below -2c) then a sub 10 year has been achieved.

The highest annual mean CET recorded is 10.82 which is 1.35 higher than normal. To beat this record the anomaly must be higher than 300.76 for the remainder of the year

LOL! Somehow or other it looks like we're just going to be able to scrape a sub 10 finish after all!

I'm pretty confident 2009 will be comfortably sub 10c though.

Provisional Hadley is 3.8c for December - which gives a provisional CET for 2009 of 9.98c.

This may well be adjusted (downwards).

If, for example, the revised figure for December is 3.7c (or 3.6c) this wil give us a CET of 9.97c (or 9.96c).

Anomaly stats from Manley;

Mean Maxima 0.19c above 71-2000 average

Mean Minima 0.37c above 71-200 average

Mean maxima for the year looks to be more or less, fairly close to normal. Mean minima considerably above but cold compared to recent years. Manley for the year has come in at 10.03c, so only sub 10.0c for Hadley.
