Moderate sleet here turning more and more snowy :)

Taking its time though... (50m asl) Nearby snow is being reported as low as 100m. Temperature continuing to fall :)

Just spoken to the Wife in Hexham total white out heavier than the 3rd Jan which is saying something about 3 inches and rising fast. If it freezes tonight as forecast god help us. Wish I was there but need to put a loaf on the table. :)

I don't think Ponteland is that high up at all, about 60 metres. But I remember driving back from Edinburgh over the A68 years back - it was January and wet snow, 1993 I think, and there was lying snow most of the way up to and including Ponteland and the airport before heading onto the A69, but no further. Much of a Tyneside heat island/rural/inland thing probably rather than altitude.

I am at 100m asl and it has been snowingsteadily/heavily for much of the day now. Accumulations up to about 3" but still snowing hard. Anybody hazard a guess how much longer it can go on for in this part of the world??

How high up are you?

Hi PP, 200ft asl ,I drove back from town at about 1-45 and it was only sleeting but once I was on the road to ponteland about level with the town moor the snow was lying-talk about a heat island effect.

Nothing more than sleet here today, wouldn't even call it very wet snow - not been any higher than 120m though. But in town I have it good authority it did nothing but rain.

A bit of light sleet here for an hour or so before the whole lot fizzled out. Temp' fell quite dramatically from 6.0c at 1800 to 2.2c at 2100.
