Guest North Sea Snow Convection

What a great day already  - the easterly is really quite strong out there and there are now some slightly bigger dandruffy bits of snow blowing around in the wind.

Signs here too that the uniform higher cloud is breaking up a bit and the individual cloud depth deepening slightly more.

I just LOVE this sort of weather!

New graphics show a band of snow moving across the E Midlands this afternoon. Not as many showers tonight, Thames Streamer still going strong though.

The snow to rain event looks even worse now for Kent & Sussex :(

Still Jay Wynne saying it might be an extreme event (yes the red METO warnings  ) with up to 25cm in places

Yup but i would not worry about the lack of snow graphics on the beeb forecasts as its a case of radar watching and see what develops.

I also would not worry about the beeb graphics regarding tomorrow nights 'event' either, as above its a case of watching the radar and the tempertures.

Guys just to let you know what we are going to do with this thread.

When it gets to 40 Pages I am going to lock this thread and move it out of Pinned and into the General Winter Area (That way people can still catch up if they wish) I will then open a New Thread and Pin this for later this afternoon, hope everyone follows this any questions just Pm Me.

Yes, not a great forecast for my area from the Beeb; not many showers on their graphics for tonight, then the snow quickly turns to rain tomorrow afternoon :(

Still, as Geordiesnow said, it is only a guide; still lots to look forward to!

some breaks in the cloud now in Central London

Slightly suprising as METO radar was progging some light ppn for quite soon - clouds do look a bit chunkier out east however

Snowing here... snowflakes are beginning to buzz about in the wind and sunshine like demented white bees.

Dark clouds to ENE, temperature 1.3 ° C, wind E 16 mph.

I'm going to forget about the mild sector and just enjoy it :(:(

Sunny here at present....cloud gathering to the east but not much prospects for today going by the BBC...same old problem always too far south or too far north!

looking forward to tomorrow but it seems later arriving now then prevoiously forecast...I thought it was due to be here for monday morning. Turns to rain too readily for my liking as well but in the meantime I have to pick my wife and kids up from Stansted Airport and that does concern me a bit!

All in all though, so much better than anything over the last few winters and big hopes that the Scandinavian influence will hang around for a while yet.

I agree with you. I think it should be banned from comment and just talk about the snow potential for today and tonight first! :(

Much earlier than expected as it has snowed since 10:45 and has just stopped as im typing. Flakes got fairly large and the wind was really whipping it into a frenzy, car and greenhouse started to gather a tiny coating.

Leaves me rather optimistic as to how much we will see this time round now, was'nt expecting any flurries for another 4hrs or so!

And its Freezing in that wind! :cold::cold::cold::cold:

Matt ;)

Steve, Looking beyond this there is a clearer slot and then another Shower (Heavier) with Fall streaks, they are starting to line up and I would expect them to go from grains to Flakes within the next few hours and then let the procession begin, with each shower getting heavier and heavier. Defo a Sunshine and Showers type of set up establishing,

Crazy Dewpoints here at the moment, anything that comes out of that sky is gonna be SNOW!
