still snowing heavy here in wincanton, and at long last a gritter and snowplough, never seen a snowplough here before lol

You must have a weather system all of your own over there. I can't see where you're getting your snow from.

Though brighter news from Yeovil. After almost 2 hrs with no precip of ANY kind, there are actually snow flakes falling from the sky. :)

Morning All,

Incredible scenes up here - over a foot of snow, and it's still coming down. Roads are terrible.

All eyes on Sunday now then!

Whats going on Sunday?

Moderate snow here, cant make out if its maintaining what we got already or getting deeper.

Going by the radar parts of the West Country can expect about another 2 hours of snow starting early this afternoon.

Edit its getting heavy again now

Fields just above Stroud 6-8 inches, in town its thawing and settling at the same time! Is itsupposed to get colder from the North through the day - I seem to remember this was on the cards? If it dropped a little and carried on snowing the depths in the town wold be impressive let alone the commons around here!

I've just read, on BBC News website, that both Severn Bridges have been closed because ice is falling off the structures and smashing onto cars. Five cars have had ice smashing through their windscreens. :o It's all a bit The Day After Tomorrow-ish, isn't it! :o

Really must go and phone garage about my car now.

PS Coming down heavier again, now.

I'm off for a wander, see whats up, pop into the pub and check the beer isn't warm... haha will no doubt report back, assuming no avalanches! :o

But yeah, just saw that about the Severn bridges... when the river starts to freeze, then we worry! :o

Hmmm, what's coming NW across Dorset at the moment looks like being my best chance of a decent fall but all the ppn just seems to die or skirt south.

Looking back at the NW radar it seems that the Somerset Levels are not getting much ppn and although I'm 60m asl Yeovil is basically on the southern edge of the levels. Must be having an effect.

Hi.

Regarding Sunday, we are expecting an Atlantic front to move in bringing snow on it's leading edge. However, Monday into Tuesday is looking more of a threat from a snow perspective.

Cheers.

Well, here i am sat in my office in the middle of Bridgwater a forlorn figure!

Still snowing although very light now

Looks like its mayhem on the roads around here, A38 very dodgy, M5 not good either. May have to go to the pub later and wait for the next batch!
