Yes I agree Mark. Didn't Dave say Yesterday, that the GFS was handling these situations

better in the shorter timeframe? I'm not sure whether I trust the UKMO this evening.

It will be interesting to see where the NMM places the low, this evening.

Please feel free to correct me Dave ;)

could you send us a message with the potential from the NMM, so badly want this to happen even though yorkshire would be buggerd!

Quite a bit of no reaching CD, although if the ECM is right, you would be in for a pasting with Yorkshire seeing rain ;)

I've always been a fan of the ECM.

Snowing here now. Sort of.

It's a high resolution model, which is run on the Netweather server ;)

Right. What data does it use? Gfs?

Yes I agree I tend to trust the GFS with these features, BUT the UKMO is a big improvement and can only be a good thing with it shifting N so dramatically. So we still need the 18z or later GFS runs to come on board... But here is one other good piece of news:

http://91.121.94.83/modeles/gens/run/gens-21-2-42.png?12

GEFS ensemble mean is perhaps even better than the UKMO. So in summary:

UKMO, GEFS mean, ECM, JMA, NOGAPS and perhaps GME say YES for Yorkshire.

GFS operational and GEM say NO.

That's some majority in our favour! Quite a turnaround. ;)

In 1 and a half hours we'll have the Icelandic ECM charts and these will be absolutely crucial, I'll post them as soon as they come out as these are the best charts so far

Have faith ppl

Not too fussed about the channel low reaching here as it would bring just rain here due to the winds coming in from the North sea but its good too see the UKMO bring the band further North into most if not all of Yorkshire, be interesting what the beeb says on this evening regarding the channel low now as the forecasts should be updated soon.

Small chance of some light snow here, nothing too exciting but it would still be nice watching it fall, might get a dusting if i am lucky.

All i know is.... Just got in from a pub lunch and it started snowing with the TINYEST flakes. In the time its taken me to read a page and load pc, is doubled in size to small flakes. The car hasnt moved today, but it's turned from Dark Blue, to White!

Thank goodness I have a bottle of wine ein for the evening..

What a turn around! Looking pretty good with UKMO, ECM, JMA and NOGAPS on Board! The Met office as of 4.30pm have extended their weather warning for Monday and Tuesday to include areas further North, including... Yorkshire! Lets see the GFS 18Z come on side.

As for the immediate snow risk in West Yorkshire. This Band of precipitation does appear to be diminishing somewhat and could be describe as a bit of non-event! Bring on the 18Z! :D

Made a post not so long ago in the NW thread saying that I believe that the channel low is starting from a more northerly point than the charts were/are showing. Thats what I think looking at Noaa Sattalite imagery and loops.... Looking good.

Yes, I saw this earlier. Good post, nice useful graphic. There are also some posts people might want to check out in the Channel Low thread about the possible intensity of this low.

Moderate snowfall here for about half hour.

It's snowing here guys :D It's not the heaviest snow I've ever seen, but it's not light either.

I haven't a clue how to decribe that :D

About 10 minutes of light snow that is over with and I don't think we'll get anymore.

Short changed again.

Well it couldn't snow any lighter here if it tried.

I might have lighter snow, I've seen a total of 8 flakes of snow falling. You might think I'm joking but it's true, 8 snowflakes. Even though the radar has precipitation over my location the forcefield seems to be doing a good job of shielding us.

And don't tell me....once your 8 snowflakes have passed through, that is it and there is nothing else on the way. Yes?

And to think I was non plussed by warnings of 2-5cm yesterday. I'd take that right now.

Actually I take it all back... it's snowing very lightly. But yes, once this blob on the radar passes through I'm not expecting anything else to develop, I think I'll be lucky to get even a dusting at this rate.
