Well, as by surprise, the sun has come out again and there is plenty of blue sky around! The weather front to the north seems to be taking its time on it's progress south.

Showers are breaking out around me as the rain band is moving slowly closer...

At long last a bit of action!

Distinct LACK of convection around here.....again!! Maybe Sunday and Tuesday might yield something for here...hopefully :wallbash:

Initial analysis suggests a a downgrade, already, for Sunday.

It's been very dark to my north for about an hour, but nothing here yet. I don't think

it will be long before showers break out here :wallbash:

Precip on radar is pepping up quite a bit fairly close to here, especially the newly forming cell south of Birmingham. Nothing, to a pretty large blob of yellow in 30 mins :wallbash:

Sod all to here of note, though the precip N of London has pepped also quite a bit in the last half hour!

there are some nice showers now cropping up across the country...quite intense in places

Yes just noticed that, especially in Wales and NW England. They seem to be heading towards the Midlands, and will hopefully keep on intensifying. :wallbash:

Strange, no Sferics detected on Radar, but I suppose it takes time for them to register.

no there isnt...but I have seen a few times lightning without radars picking it up.though not often

This storm in Wigan is going east and intensifying :yahoo:

Is it still producing thunder and lighting?

Just keeping an eye out on the cell to my West, not thundery though. The weekend is an interesting one, Meto really going for this persistent heavy rain for the West Midlands tomorrow, but what excites me is Sunday where heavy showers are meant to break out widely across the Midlands. Hopefully the high CAPE values and lapse rates should help for the development of storms.

For once, I hope not. Got a 38mile cycleride to do! :yahoo:

Still no thunder here but my partner just phoned me to say there is heavy hail just north of Biddulph, Staffordshire!

Edit: I hear there is thunder in Trafford park so I should hear something very soon! I am in Wythenshawe and i'll be soon travelling to the city centre!
