I've recorded the odd 30c but only for a few minutes, on the whole I've sat around the 28-29c mark for most of this "heatwave" in fact yesterday was cooler than Tuesday which is likely to be the hottest day of the week, unless today pulls a surprise. Always been a small breeze around here which has kept things a little more cooler.

The 33.9°C allegedly recorded at Oadby does not stand up to scrutiny: it isn't an official site to start with and the fact that no station apart from Heathrow recorded higher than 30.4°C (as Benson and Brize Norton both did) makes it even more suspicious. Heavens, if a bloody great concrete oven like Heathrow can't exceed 30.9°C what is the likelihood that some place near Leicester can reach 33.9°C? The nearest stations I can find are for Birmingham, Nottingham and East Midlands Airport - all at 29°C, some 5°C lower than Oadby!

This map shows where the heat was.

I recorded 30.3C as the top temperature yesterday, which seems to be broadly in line with nearby stations, currently 22.7C so looks like being another warm one today.

I did notice yesterday felt less humid and it feels less humid still today so its actually much more enjoyable than earlier in the week despite the higher temperatures.

Edit.

James12, that looks far too high, the other nearby stations are 3C lower.

Indeed a hot day ahead, those stations are mostly Davis AWS's appear to record around 1C higher than screened Meto sites in calm sunny conditions.

I've seen conflicting reports about the record highest dew point in the UK, some say the low 20's DgC, others higher (where's Mr Data when you need him??!!)

Could we be approaching that somewhere in the UK today??

Very warm last night. I don't think it dipped below 20C here last night.

It could be very well be sometime next week record a lower maximum than minimum that was recorded last night, here.

I don't think it did get below 20C last night in the Manchester area. I know Woodford's minimum temperature was 20C but I think Manchester Airport got down to 19C. You can usually add one or two degrees on to the Manchester Airport figure for the more urban areas just to the north, I always find that Manchester Airport is quite a bit cooler at night than where I am in Denton.

Temps are the same as yesterday, at first today the temp was slightly higher (1.c) than yesterday but temps have stopped rising as rapidly, current temp 26.1.c (leeds center), made it to 29.9c (leeds center). Hopefully will make it to the magic 30.c temp.

Hi Botty. Defo another hot day. Interestingly, I was in Nottingham yesterday afternoon, and when I left at 16.30 to come home, my car thermometer (not the most reliable, granted) was 31.5oC on the A453 back to the M1.

25.0c at Waddington (Lincoln) 12:00. Down on the previous two days at 12:00. Expected to go up to 24c. I think we might have passed that.

Warmer here as well today thanks to less of a breeze coming in from the east. Meanwhile temps seem generally around 1c cooler to today but that may change over the next few hours as we have warmer air being advected into the SE.
