Looks like a WNW cell has developed ahead of the E Kent MCS - this is far closer and more likely to come my way... going back out for another investigation, lol

Just hoping I can hear a rumble so I can add it to my thunder days below! :D

What about li then? it is registering +5 ahead of the easterly storm which is a reading that is taken at 500mb which is around middle level. + means it is stable and the air is sinking.

you're absolutley right.....no lift, air loses its boyancy and sinks...suggesting the storms should die quickly upon meating the sinking air...nope, dont know the answer to that one...one for the experts.....nocturnal cooling perhaps?

for Loopydreamer as well

just to expand, the CAPE on the NW Extra overlay is a measurement of surface based CAPE, they dont show the CAPE at mid-altitudes, as tonight we're focusing on mid-level instability, then MLCAPE comes into play :)

thanks aj, kissie for u :D:D

Not that spectacular so far, last year in August was THE best but the lead up to perhaps a better event later tonight? has been pretty interesting.

cell to my NE on latest radar just developed. Still the stars are out but the lightning is getting more frequent and brighter. Thunder echoes are a tad more boomier than earlier

The cells to the SE seem to be keeping their intensity as they hit land, so all bodes well for us down in here, best of luck to all others!

Could he orange colour be something to do with the recent eruption in russia, is aparantly been giving nice sunsets around the world.

Possibly, the moon here tonight also had that orange colour to it.

Rainfall that was so intense it was like a thick fog rolling in , you could hear the roar of the rain before it even arrived. The tree in front was being blown instantly like a squall , the rain just got more and more intense. My vision became hazy is the rain came down.
