Mix of sleet, and more sleet, here in Stratosdale. Surprising because it was around 5C when this started down in the valley, though a couple of degrees cooler up here. Didn't think this front would have anything wintry on it. Sleet seems to be this season's black up here.

Wet snow earlier this evening, turning to sleet by 2100 and sleet still falling now. No lying snow here but I see on the web cams that Flash Bar and the Cat and Fiddle have a cm or two lying, about 20 miles north of me and 150m or so higher.

Sleeting in Gateshead. I suspect it must be a tad colder than they anticipated as they forecast rain in the town / city centres. It was 2 degrees celsius on the car thermometer.

Would like to here reports from Consett / Tow Law areas of County Durham as I imagine there could be a covering up there.

Around 3 cms of snow fell yesterday evening at my mum's near Aberfeldy in Perthshire. Thawing and slushy this morning though.

Noticed that Glenshee [A93] road was blocked earlier this morning. First of the season due to snow I think.

Interestingly there still appears to be a full cover of snow in Langdale in Cumbria.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/cumbria/content/webcams/greenhowe_webcam.shtml

This is all the more remarkable in that the locations are only at around 100m asl, and most other higher locations are more or less clear.

Edit: gone dark now, but stored a late snap from Greenhowe which just makes out the snow.
