That video only (according to the commentary) shows 'snow flurries' over the UK... blue is snow cover. So no need to go ramping just yet me thinks

i'm happy with a few snow flurries, if it is very cold, any fronts that collide with the cold air risk being of snow

I think it would just about take the biscuit if Spain was under a snow cover and we had a few flurries. Hell, all of Europe would be covered in the stuff. nonono.gif

a downgrade coud be on the way! cold pool pointing more towards central and southern europe, high pressure needs to shift NW (I think)

This would be in line with Joe B*astardi's video forecast.

What do the Meto say about all of this ? i haven`t heard much from them so have they got access to `other charts`? the charts today have confused me ( not hard ) some people saying yes maybe snow orthers saying no snow but cold. just who is right !!

Could still be huge cold spell but also chance of a huge let down. acute.gif

Basically Backtrack like Mullender said there is a good chance of a cold spell and maybe quite snowy to, but the latest GFS 12z run was a downgrade, and the next few days will be vital on the charts for this spell. I really hope the 18z run is a decent upgrade and UKMO will be the one to watch

Too many people willing to throw the towel in, take heed of what Joe B was saying. For me his Autumn forecast was spot on, and the pattern he talks about is being modelled as we speak. Ok it's showing different variations, but it will be at least +72hrs before this is nailed!

So there's a BIG snow event coming up?

Its a good chance but there is time for it to go horribly wrong. The shortwaves near to Greenland is one problem

Could still be huge cold spell but also chance of a huge let down.

So basically absolutely no change since this first started appearing as a possibility 5 days ago...........

Given that all along virtually everyone on here nods sagely and agrees when someone says FI has been at about T90+ for the last week, and then a post later is either frothing at the mouth or shooting themselves about what is being shown at T150+ (and even out to T240+ !!!) is frankly all rather bizarre

Also this could be a very good spell snow wise in the East. If the charts are very good in 3 days time, then get excited, but its potential for now

It's more than potential, even the long range Met Office forecast is calling snow showers.

IMO, all we really have, just now, is a slow and unpredictable transition to colder non-zonal weather-conditions. And NO-ONE knows exactly how that transition will pan-out?? :acute:

Very true Pete, just about anything can happen however!

Still we do have a colder period coming up regardless, when the easterly flow starts to kick in if anything temps will raise a little bit, probably will be very dull past Sunday, hopefully we can get a proper cold flow during that period but we shall see.

So cold to some degree looks locked on now, but the synoptic pattern still seems highly uncertain.

absolutely they are im not saying cold is not coming to town.

but its turning into a joke now how can anyone say snowfeast is on the cards when hardcore model watchers are not happy,

i agree its only a couple of runs but shortwave is showing its hand in different models now and some are saying this is good and alot are saying its bad.

if its bad and showing on different models and different runs then this cant be good.

still not nailed cool down is on the cards,

but this could well be a repeat of december 2008 although colder than average it was very dry.

its easy to get sucked into the cold ramp i always do cant help it.

well i think its all going downhill or its going to over the next 24 to 48 hours.
