Temps still hovering around the 0 mark here - beautiful crisp winters day so far, wall to wall 'dazzling' sunshine.

Approx 0.0000009 mm snow has so far fallen - hoping the warm sector in the front currently leaving Scotland doesnt spoil things later..

Text from a few lads at the SUFC vs QPR game say it was an 'interesting' journey down the country earlier this morning, navigating through sub zero temps & black ice!!

Off topic but I hope they're warm, it does seem to catch a biting breeze at Loftus Road ! (coming froma QPR fan who is from sheffiel lol)

Just had a look at the NMM, and I'm not concerned to be honest. I think some of us will see some rain/sleet at first which will turn to snow later.

Whatever happens, it will be interesting stuff

Tonights conclusion;

Precipitation push's South, with the leading edge of sleet/rain for low level areas in parts of N Yorkshire, East riding of Yorkshire and N lincs.

By the time the colder air undercuts the band will be just pushing to the south of us, so we'll be lucky to get 10-15 mins of snow.

Tonight widespread ice patches making it hazardous tomorrow on the roads and paths.

Sunday day time

Some showers about with a mixture of hail, sleet, and wet snow pushing across our region from the WNW.

From the met office.

This Evening and Tonight:

Cloud and outbreaks of snow clearing away southwards with clear spells developing and becoming very cold with a hard frost developing and becoming very icy in places. Minimum temperature -8 °C.

Snowing here lightly, not been above freezing so far today in Slaithwaite Huddersfield. Lovely snow tonight too, whoop! no chance of rain here.

Precipitation is good mate. I'm still not concerned about that warm sector on tonight's GFS 12z. The dew points and temps drop considerably as that band pushes through. I think we'll do OK.

We'll see anyway

12z run

post-2644-12612376211558_thumb.jpg

After look at this run, the 850's become more marginal for a time at the start along with dews, but it shows the precipitation moving slower, and the dews drop after 9pm again.

But it could be too late for anything to settle in area's that have little or no lying snow.

Never say never!

Looks like all the intensity is staying east, but you could see a few cms.

The warm sector dosen't look like hanging around for long, so maybe once the ppn arrives things will be fine mate.
