Some showers out in the Irish Sea making good use of what CAPE is around, lower air temps now meaning the Irish Sea showers are almost entirely Wintry in nature with reports from the I-O-M of settling on lower levels as the Northern Cells passed by.

Now being blown SouthEasterly towards the Northwest Coast, I expect many will be waking up along these parts in the morning with a unexpected wintry scene.

That band of precipitation is coming closer, if it keeps on in that direction we might get some of this snow, nothing last night to speak of, just a bit of slush on top of the existing snow and now its frozen solid and like a ice ring, very crisp but not very deep! Going to Hull this morning for lunch, so will be packing the survival gear just in case we have problems getting home!!

I've just use the council weather station data from the sensor about 1/2 mile up the hill behind me and it says ground temperature of -8.2. No wonder it's so crispy.

Jeeez it's cold here this morning -10.1°C! :yahoo: :w00t: :w00t:

Anywhere that has snow today that fell and settled has real chance of falling to to as low as -10C I reckon.

Those who had rain though, around -4C at worst.

You were spot on Stephen! :w00t:

It's just started in Bacup so should hit you soon, big flakes and instant coverage on this frozen ground.

We've just had a Hail shower pass through, trying to snow a bit but dark clouds to the North.

Biirchwood on the M62 has had about an inch-and thats just east of me-no appreciable snow yet-temp 0C, wind appears to be westerly.

Yep just had some moderate snow here, and the great thing with this temperature is that every little flake sticks!

That first shower has just gone through, amazing what a shower can produce on frozen ground. Going to take the dogs out in the field now and take some pictures of the amazing sunrise, the cloud tops are bright pink. Can't wait for the next shower which is brewing out to the west.

Temp -2.9 at the moment, and a light covering. Looking at the radar, there should be a more organised band of snow hitting us within the next 2 hours!

Yep. Seems to be going slightly north of me at the moment and straight in over you !

According to the 0800 Infrared-the main body of the showers are still mianly to the North of us-they haven't hit us yet in all their glory-but they're on their way.

Another hail shower-still no snow here, weird Mossely Hill and Birkenhead have snow. Interesting how the character of the hail has changed, from large round balls to small cone shaped objects. Sure is turbulent up there.

Just woke up to a dusting of snow! The snow shower has now cleared to the east.

It's a day of radar watching, the temperature should not be a problem this time!
