Nightmare - just the coldest, bitterest rain out there at the moment. I pity anyone who's out in it, it's brutal. Looks like Northants might just be luckiest out of the Midlanders from this event - the radar looks really intense for them. Hope to have some great snow pics on here soon.

Snow here is fizzling back to sleet now, and what snow cover we have is melting rapidly, hope we get something later on, or this will be write off number 5 this winter so far!

Big fat fluffly snowflakes here, about 2cm now, temperature down to 0.2C! MetOffice 1 - 0 GFS.

I get confused as to what consistutes 'high ground' really. I'm about 300ft which is a good 200ft higher than Bedford 15 miles south, where it usually rains.

An hour or slow of heavy sleet earlier caused some slushy settling. A mixture of Light sleet and wet snow only now and it's melting faster than it's settling as temperatures are above freezing.

I cant see anything major happening in the immediate future. Maybe a minor covering by morning so it looks like it's a trip out to the Shropshire hills tomorrow morning to see any significant snow lying.

Snow a bit lighter and patchier now and radar not looking quite so promising but can't grumble, a dusting of snow on all surfaces in low level Northamptonshire was not something that looked at all likely 2-3 hours ago.

Good stuff!

Congrats TEITS on your prediction last night :D

It has indeed stalled and just plonked a heavy area of PPN right on top of me, must be pushing 5cm out there by the end of all this, still snowing pretty heavily as well.

Metoffice = joke, Shropshire regularly mentioned, nothing has happened

As usual

Worst for snow here

We had a *severe* warning for snow and still only got rain and sleet, it beggars belief how bad this town is for snow! Yet again surrounding areas get snow at exactly the same temps we get rain and sleet- I think my New Year's resolution will be to be living somewhere else come next winter.
