Why oh why oh why did it have to rise up to -0.2C for about 10 minutes earlier? Why couldn't it just let me have another ice day?

Now back below freezing with snow.

Temperatures have been over 0°C for over 6 hrs here on the coast and there is a slow thaw (dripping from roofs essentially) but upper lower temps of -10 and below are on their way. Although temps have been up to 3.4°C but when a shower hit it was of either hail, graupel or snow. I should'nt worry over the short term as cold sometimes severe will be around for sometime yet...!!

well its mm per hour for rain, which converts directly to centimeters per hour for snow...

1mm of rain=1cm of snow

obviously they arent guna get 32 cm out of that shower because its intensity at that period is only guna last 5 minutes for the lucky few, but even in that time they could get 3cm.... pretty impressive for a 5 minute job!

That single fact right there makes me feel like I've learnt something today haha. Cheers!

That's not true. I had to go to Birmingham once, but then it was time to go. That made me happy.

I lived there for 7 years. Had a great snowfall in February 1996 there, a foot deep.

The temperatures are dropping now, down by over a degree in an hour and a ½.. wish it would drop below freezing as this confounded dripping is driving me mad...!!..still 2.1°C but dew's are dropping nicely.... Looks like that mass will hit North Tyneside and parts of South Tyneside....

No snow for a while here but a shower seems imminent. Then nothing until the main area sinks South so I think I'll call it a night and get up early tomorrow!

35 mins? I'm looking at the stuff that's still over the water. Are you talking about the stuff that's north of Newcastle?

I was thinking that would pass west of us.

Well I would love to wait up but I need to be up early tomorrow in preparation for my journey to Consett. Got to walk about a mile just to collect my car before I even start!

Could be fun and games for a lot of people in the morning.

Night :D
