Oh it is that Ian, pure flakes too, no hail nor graupel... flakes are small and powdery in the 'lighter' parts and when the ppn increases the flakes become fairly large. Its difficult to see whether the trough is fizzling away but here on the coast i'd say definately not but coastal districts are in prime location for these scenarios, moving so slow,...... belting down again...

-3.6oC and the smallest ice/snow flakes ive ever seen

Thats what was here at the beginning then the larger flakes as the ppn increased.

Huge flakes here and still belting down

bbc forecast just showed more snow on their graphics for tomorrow & sat with the persistant snow on sun just reaching us.

snowing quite heavily now in byker car totally covered again, one big downside of this is having to scrape the snow off the car in the mornings to gan to workwallbash.gif

roll on tomorrow night lie in satdrinks.gif

Steady here now, all sorts of flake sizes. All good stuff, helping to add to the 10" in the back garden. And tomorrow to look forward to, I know they are not accurate and only representative but the snow graphics on the 10 0'clock news (bbc) weather with Rob McKelwie gave the impression that it could snow across Tyne and Wear from 10-00am tomorrow til 02-00am Saturday ! Fantastic if it happens, I may get out of work early (South Shields). Then snowed in at the pub later lol
