Very lite snow falling here, although i'm at my dads house about 5 miles inland at around 80m asl. Looks like that area of snow is intensifying to the east :)

Been moderate to heavy snow here now for about 20mins. Isn't half of blowing a gale out there at times blowing the snow all over the show.

just been outside and the temp has dropped pretty sharply - wish my little station hadnt broken...first day in 'normal' clothes and I can feel the chill now so I'm hopeful that this means the forecast was correct. think I'm off to maplins tomorrow for a new set up...neighbour's stuff great but need my own if I'm to be able to play ball properly.

Fingers crossed for wishes granted...

Thanks, and what do you think we'll get Seasider?

Hard to tell, we weren't forecast the snow we had last week, and it depends if any of the weather approaching from the SE reaches us, and if as what?? Current temps mean possibly sleet or rain. Don't think we are forecast any snow until at least Tue/Wed possibly, but hey, you never know, keep your eye on the rainfall chart.

i think it is fair to say that the big freeze of the last 21 days is over as we have known it we should be thankful for what we have recieved thus far and look forward to further scenarios this winter is far from over!

Blackpool airport reporting temp 3c dewpoint -1c. Light showers rain/snow wind ENE

all numbers are rounded to the nearest full number when airports report so it could be that the temp is really below this such as reported by Madris and other locations around blackpool which show it as 2.6C average temp ad Madris as 2.2C

Leyland, Leyland

Current Temp 1C

Dewpoint -8C

Snow just stopped

Possible reload and battlefield scenario is possible from Thursday onwards as the ECM wants to keep it cold with blocking returning by the weekend

it's certainly turned into a wild night here now with quite heavy snow being blown about in the wind

the temperature is falling and currently at +0.1c - thinking about putting ice around the sensor to help it down a bit.

been on the Yorkshire and Pennine thread and there seems to be a lot of snow falling in the Leeds, Halifax areas which hopefully will make make it over this side without loosing to much intensity.

if it does could be an interesting night ahead.

I know what you mean it sometimes looks like a tornado made out of snow forming outside. It is mental all of a sudden the wind blows it up and then all of a sudden it blows loads of snow down. Hope the snow in Yorkshire makes its way over here.

Liverpool area...non event can only hope it sinks further south..not ever going to happen..winds are south east and pushing precip away rather than towards.

Radar has snow over us, but no precip.

However the temps are rising going towards liverpool including dewpoints now, so expect some rain after midnight if not before.

Lightish snow on & off most of the day, but a steady thaw of the lying snow (& we didn't have much to strart with!). I'm surprised none of the more "serious" posters picked this up. It was quite a common feature of Easterlies in the past. You get a few days of sunshine & snow showers (if you're lucky!). Then the cold air gradually runs out & you're left in a dull, raw, thouroughly unpleasant airstream. Damp with drizzle/snow grains & temperatures, ususally just above freezing by day & night. After a few days of this, you'll be begging for something, anything to come along & take the cloud & cold wind away.
