Snowing here in East Herts. Temp about 2c dew points -1c, so not sure how long it will last, but good to see.

Snow here too for last half hour, melting on impact !

1.7 C falling , 0.5 DewPoint falling, 993.2 rising.

Radar looks interesting for a few hours yet.

Edit.. now settling on grass

Snowing in Central London, which for those a little further north is probably quite interesting. Temps and dew points still look just ok for snow here. Some heavier PPN which presumably is happening in London now, on its way.

Newbie here.

Currently snowing moderately here in Amersham after starting off as a rain/sleet/snow mix. Starting to leave the slightest of coverings on grassy surfaces. Hope it keeps up for a while longer before we eventually succumb to the milder air later on. Still a few patches left from the 1-2 cms we got yesterday

Yes it is quite heavy here at the moment, sadly not starting to settle (yet) so maybe a bit too soon for folk to think about leaving work early biggrin.gif

I wasn't expecting any snow today, maybe sleet turning to rain this afternoon at best so seeing white flakes falling out of the sky during daylight hours is good in my booksmile.gif

Just went to tescos, all the ducks which live at tescos were sitting at the front door some asleep when we got there about an hour ago, when we came out they demanded cake, which they got.

Any rural farmers tales about duck behaviour and cold weather, does anyone know?

My great great great grand farther a true farmer of old passed down through the generation a great bit of wisdom re ducks and cakes

If a duck is hungry for cake you can be sure the big lake will freeze, you will feel hardly a breeze as north wind will start blow and an avalanche of snow will follow all because a duck is hungry for cake.

I still think ducks get hungary you never know ? mellow.gif

No weather warnings out from the Met office for MK, and yet we have fine powdery snow falling heavily now and settling on most surfaces :p

I love that old saying, I've never heard that one before laugh.gif

It could well be right too, on the other hand the ducks cold just be greedy and clever enough to work out Tescos = People + Cake/Bread !

Edit: Starting to settle a bit now in this part of MK ....

Hands up all those who want to leave the office early \o/ \o/ \o/

The school run/rush hour could be fun if this continues whistling.gif

oh, and whoever it was who said something about seagulls and cold weather there were loads of them at tescos as well, fighting with the ducks for the bits of hot cross bun we were feeding them.Southernman was teasing them by throwing bits high into the air to see if they could fly and eat at the same time but one was really skilled at catching it before it hit the ground.

It was considerably colder when we came out than when we went in.

conditions here now very overcast.

found online while surfing

The Tesco outside Lowestoft had a large gathering of ducks just by the entrance and there used to be food and water bowls for them. The last time I visited there were signs inside the store windows saying "do not feed the ducks". A solitary male waited for a few crumbs by the exit

I just wish to make it clear that Southern man and myself did not feed any ducks at Tesco today, in fact, we didn't even see any ducks there.

Sincerely

JJ

To my surprise its snowing here in Colchester

Chucking it down with fine flakes (not grains) of snow, getting heavier but not settling. It's rain/sleet in the city itself. Moderate (veering every closer towards heavy) snow here.

Will keep you all posted.

Just got heavier again. The areas in which yesterday's snowfall has melted, has now turned a pale greeny white.

not expecting more than a couple of cms, but it's nice to look at nonetheless.

Stopped here now, still got a very grey sky though !

Main roads seem to be fine, it was very slushy stuff again so you should be okay getting home but take care as it may start to freeze later like last night.
