Everywhere seems to be a unitary authority nowadays. So like saying Luton is in the county of Luton and not in Bedfordshire, or York is in the county of York and not in Yorkshire!

Re Dan Aldridge's stab at John London... well I find John's posts entertaining. I don't take myself seriously at all either.

Northants still isn't in the 3 counties or East Anglia though.

I'm a researcher in Biological Thermodynamics so I wouldn't count myself as an idiot, but I do have one personality defect and that is I don't take myself too seriously.

I must admit I had a good laugh over it, Teits would have to I'm quite sure.

My advice, don't trust the BBC, they are not using there own models which suggest snow for many counties!

Nowcasting situation and whatever will be, will be!

NAE update looks good for the region. Expect rain turning to snow around midday before petering out in the afternoon. South of the region may only see rain though i'm afraid. NAE total depths go for 10mm in the north of the region where at least half of this will fall as snow. I would punt for 5cm in Northampton across to the wash and 5cm for Luton / Chilterns. I think Tues night could be interesting for the region because it comes at night which will help with the marginality.

Good luck everyone :)

I think the low will be on a slightly more southerly track than what the beeb or even the NAE

are showing, looking at the latest satalite view.

Looks like tomorrow could be interesting for Norwich- what precipitation we get will be anyone's guess. I doubt there will be enough snow on the ground to be able to use my sledge though.

load of old toffee , just had a spell of rain here , infact im yet to see any snow falling ,so in essence would say anywhere north of MK has a reasonable chance of snow tomorrow , the old addage of "if only it had been a bit colder "comes to mind , then again the snow would of only been light and patchy , unlike the rain when it comes it chucks it down .....................

This will be one of those situations where the snow could well end up quite a bit more widespread then the models expect at first glance...it arrives in early morning and I'm not sure why it wouldn't start as snow to be honest, much like we saw in some parts of EA on Thursday, its worth watching for...The combination of moderate precip with temos that really are just the wrong side of borderline could see the rain turn to snow earlier and once that occurs it probably won't turn back again.

Still everyone is right, a total nowcast evolution it has to be said!

Wellingborough too. Looking at the radar, it seems to now be intensifying in a separate band north of the main area, and we are benefitting atm. Light for now, however has been enough in the last few hours to give about a cm on the roads here.

snowing thick and fast here. About 2/3cms covering right now! not quite the Spanish 100+cms of last week, but can't really believe what I'm seeing having been back in England for only 10 hours! warnings from metoffice of upto 10cms for us now.

Hmmm...very interesting. x
