yep i've checked the latest charts and it still looks like that nasty low is heading this way!

Hopefully by tomorrow we will get more of an idea of wind speed this might bring us.

Thats in complete contrast as to what theyre saying on the model thread.

I thought all the signs are that the worst of Sundays low will be further south, into France and Belgium ? The latest forecasts Ive seen suggest winds may gust to 40-45mph along parts of the South Coast for a while on Sunday, with some possible back edge sleet/snow on Sunday night in the South East.

if you look at the fax charts

t60 http://www.wzkarten3.de/pics/brack1a.gif

low pressure heading close

t72 http://www.wzkarten3.de/pics/brack2.gif

centre of low pressure (looks like 980)

is in the Channel between south east uk and France.

t96 http://www.wzkarten3.de/pics/brack2.gif

shows low pressure moved away very quick

although see the 528 dam line across the uk

t120 http://www.wzkarten3.de/pics/brack2.gif

shows the 528 dam line moving towards the Midlands

this also shows another low pressure system coming

in from the South West which if it goes below the uk

could turn the winds Easterly from thursday onwards next week

although whether this would be dry due to high pressure being close

to the uk is too far out to say.

the storm for Sunday according to these charts would be gusty for South

coasts and the South East at the moment but a movement of 100 miles either

way would make a huge difference and still needs watching.

watching this storm develop will be interesting as it could be a forcasters

nightmare and could end up being a now cast scenerio.

thats how i see it now and i bet it will be totally different tomorrow

The river running through canterbury / fordwich has burst it's banks!!. Fields are flooded and some roads/pathways , if it goes up any higher houses will be at risk

yes this is becoming rather concerning more heavy rain tonight and then sundays potential storm and alto the wind could be 40-50mph gusts if the worst winds miss us , im worried that saturated ground is loosening the tree roots and the winds wont need to be severe to bring them down, and as they say in the sunday low thread a small shift could bring us severe winds. help.gif

I wouldn't have thought that you have spent much time sitting in the garden during the last few months! :D

Pretty breezy here too, but the sun is trying to stay out at least!

the track of sundays storm is not yet set , a small change in track is still possible that being 70-100miles not much but a big impact on who gets the strongest winds , we are looking at gales but the rain is going to cause problems of course on saturated ground , some models showing 40 mm on our shores and up to 65mm over in n-france ,so a small shift north of the low and we are at risk of severe flooding in places , we are most likely to easily see 25mm anyway , there may be back edge snow on higher ground later in day/eve as the storm moves off, trees are going to be dangerous even in 50mph winds as the roots are becoming waterlogged and looser, this storm is dangerous and worrying be prepared for sudden warnings. the sundays low thread will keep all up dated on the situation. sundays low

The storm forecast on Sunday is very worrying ;) ;) It's not just the gale force winds that will be the only worry, but the heavy rain adding to the already saturated grounds. There will most probably be structural damage due to trees being uprooted due to the very saturated ground. To add to all this, it looks like getting colder next week with possible wintry showers :cold::shok:

Croydon Council had an emergency meeting today regarding the predicted storm on Sunday. They are concerned with the gales, but it is the amount of heavy rain that is concerning all due to the present saturated ground. To think that the Thames Barrier might be activated on Sunday raises even more concerns :D :D :help:

It would be a good idea considering there will also be spring tides at the weekend too.

Looks like the general feeling on this thread is..help.gifhelp.gifhelp.gif .. I think we might see a lot more of those in the next few days.

I should be ok with regards to flooding as Brighton is a relatively hilly area with no major river, roll on the potential cold next week.clap.gifcold.gif

the london ensembles look in fair agreement

for a cool down from 3rd March onwards

http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=charts;type=ens;sess=

t48 fax chart http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=charts;type=ukmomod;sess=

shows the centre of the low pressure closer to the south east uk than last

nights fax so a little more concerning.

think we will have to nowcast this storm and although i enjoy stormy

conditions i think i would prefer to see this storm move away from us.

I think the Spring tides are due about Tuesday, though by then this LP will be off to our north east, pulling winds in from roughly that direction

I know this is the cold spell discussion thread, but was hoping one of you guys or girls with a bit more expertise could give me an update on what we can expect from the low forecast for tomorrow?

My partner has to drive from Essex to Oxfordshire at some point tomorrow. He's trying to decide what would be the best time to do this?

I know you can't be exact but a general idea would be good.

Thanks in advance.
