Sorry Wee, just kidding.

the Meto forecast is predicting gusts of around 30 MPH over sunday day and night with heavy rain all day too. sunday daytime you are going to have an easterly and that veers northerly overnight. not sure how those directions affect you down there unknw.gifsmile.gif

Big difference between your 30mph winds and Yamkins 70 to 80 mph?????? i would like to see no wind but if any would prefer the 30mph ones.Someone on the mod thread said that could compare this low to oct 87,if so that is frightening as i remember that well and there was a lot of damage,i hope this all buggers off and we get cold and bright weather.drinks.gif

At the moment models are suggesting on Sunday there will be heavy rain and strong winds which could gust to 70 - 80 mph. There is also a possibility of the low pulling in a colder NE feed later on which could give us a wintry mix.

MetO will most probably issue Advisory Warnings for the S/SE tomorrow regarding this worrying low. This all could amount to nothing by Sunday, but is still on course for Sunday at the moment.

Thanks for the replys Yamkin and snowman,i really hope its not too bad ,just want brighter colder days now .drinks.gif

Certain models are going for higher wind speeds than others, hence why I've gone with the highest to be on the safe side.

WMC 12Z is out and the low pressure is to the West of Portugal at 60h & intensifies at 72h and hits our shores at 84h where gusts of up to 50 mph are possible. At 96h, the low pulls in a E/NE wind. Wintry showers are possible as the WMC 12Z uppers are colder. We really need to keep an eye on the low pressure destined for Sunday.

What a bloomin winter lol!!! Everything seems to be extra serve this year. Rainful and snow is falling in large amounts since november and now a mega storm is heading our way!! I saw the BBC weather mention this earlier- I'd say they are expecting something quite bad at the mo. How bad we will have to wait and see. But Sussex is ready and we're strong round here!! (lol)

Quick update from myself

Not looking great for today-see below

post-10842-12670942550917_thumb.png

this will continue, with bands of ppn coming up from the SW heading N untill monday.

There could be a stronger LP moving up from the Azores and heading up the western side of spain, france and hitting us.

the 6Z GFS has the low around 985mb and would not be a cause for concern.

post-10842-12670945881317_thumb.png

However NOGAPS and GEM show it strengthening

GEM shows a low of 970mb with much tighter isobars

post-10842-12670955865917_thumb.png

As does Nogaps

post-10842-12670947355617_thumb.png

After this low The ECM shows a ridge of HP developing at around t+168 heading north centering around Scotland, this in turn provides easterlies for the southern half of the uk starting at around T+192 and then strengthening. Cold nights and snow showers by day.

post-10842-12670952134717_thumb.gif

GFS 6z Shows the the HP developing further west and bringing in easterlies faster by around T162 in the south, at the same time LP'S will cut underneath and this would cause widespread snow in the south.

Weathizard we had a good dry summer here on the East Coast so cant complain,. But we have had lots of snow this winter. It dont allways follow ..a good summer after a bad winter ..1947 was a very bad winter but was followed by a very good summer,But not many summers have been good after bad winters . Looking at some of the model sites at the moment this deep low on Sunday, as it moves away it draws some very cold easterly winds back again..remember as the daylight days get longer, winter gets stronger..a good one that.

It's finally stopped raining and looking at the radar, it will be a nice period of respite (my other half is also pleased as he has to go out in a minute!) Cue our cats to go out now and come back with a nice big toad or two (like they did last night lol!)biggrin.gif

The deepening low pressure destined to the S/SW/SE on Sunday is very worrying. There will be terrible flooding and possible structural damage if this low pressure hits us.
