Again John sorry I got it mixed up. As I said in other section, I'm only updating them as no one else is! The 04:00 ish updates are different to the midday ones- you will see this in the 6-15 day update.

thanks for both replies Alex and yes a closer inspection does reveal differences. To me that is a bit odd at the two time scales, and its not something that used to be done. I'll send an e mail and ask what has caused the change of issue to 0400'ish and an update around lunch time over the last few days.

UK forecast - Day 16 to 30

UK Outlook for Friday 13 Apr 2012 to Friday 27 Apr 2012:

A generally less settled period is expected, with winds often from the west or northwest. Rainfall amounts for the period look to be close to or just below average across the UK, with a continuing chance of some wintry showers falling in some northern areas, mainly on hills. However, there is still likely to be some fine days too. Temperatures will be often near to average and, by day, perhaps a little above average at times whilst nights will sometimes be chilly with occasional frost inland.

UK Outlook for Saturday 14 Apr 2012 to Saturday 28 Apr 2012:

Conditions look set to remain on the unsettled side, with showers or longer spells of rain affecting most areas, giving close to average rainfall amounts for much of the UK, perhaps slightly above in some places. It is likely to continue to feel cool, if not fairly chilly, particularly compared to the recent very warm spell, with temperature quite widely around or just below the seasonal average. Sunshine amounts are likely to be highly variable in this unsettled regime, but most places should see close to average amounts.

I am at a loss to understand why Met issue two identical forecasts on the same day just shuffling the day forward by one on the later issue. Why not do that in the early hours? If they feel it has changed sufficient to need some alteration fair enough but otherwise it seems a waste of effort. Likewise with the 6-15 outputs.

as is almost always the case this update, other than the day/date being shuffled forward one day, is identical to the early morning issue.

Can I ask you Gavin or anyone else that issues these after the early morning issue to check for what it says, and if its only the date/day changed please simply put a line that says just that rather than posting what to any newcomer on the site may think is a significant update to what has already been posted.

same goes for the other outlook.

many thanks

I think what will be best is if this thread in future is just updated once a day (16 to 30 included) but to only update it with the lunch time updates.

UK Outlook for Saturday 21 Apr 2012 to Saturday 5 May 2012:

Many areas remaining on the unsettled side with showers or longer spells of rain, at least to begin with. Northern regions, however, are likely to be more settled, drier and brighter, with these more settled conditions perhaps spreading further southwards later. Daytime temperatures should often be close to average for many, but cooler in some eastern regions. Meanwhile, the best chance of pleasantly warm conditions will be over western and northwestern regions. Nights are likely to often be quite chilly with scope for occasional frost in rural areas inland.
