Evening Stuart,

Total disbelief that the weather is still not playing ball with us. Just ome back from Florida touching 95 there. I was hoping to come back to our weather changing but alas no. I am rather concerned that the winter is going to be worse than this year, as we are basically not getting alot of sun to warm up the earth. What is your take on this. I know it is only June but time is flying by and before long the nights will be closing in.

UK Outlook for Sunday 4 Jul 2010 to Sunday 18 Jul 2010:

After a somewhat changeable start, the weather is likely to become less unsettled during the first week of July, with the best conditions probably in southern and eastern areas. Rainfall may be above average for the first few days of the period but, overall, should be close to normal for this time of year. Likewise, sunshine amounts will probably be around the seasonal average. Daytime temperatures are likely to be close to or slightly above normal for most of the period, but overnight temperatures may be significantly above average in places.

I do wish the Met' Office would give some indication in these forecasts as to exactly where 'south, east, north and west' are.

It's all very well them saying mainly dry and warm in the south and east of Britain if you live in Kent, Hampshire, Sussex or Norfolk but not very helpful if you live in the middle of the country.

Looking at a map of Britain the south and east could mean anywhere south east of a line from Newcastle to Blackpool or it could mean south east of the Wash to Cardiff, or Bridlington to Anglesey.

It's bad enough having vague geographical description on radio forecasts where the forecastes are subject to tight time constraints but it wouldn't take much effort to give an idea of the boundaries in a written forecast.
