Well Popo has been erupting recently and Etna erupted yesterday and anak rakatoa has also erupted.

A video showing a brief lava fountain which is strange as Popo normally builds lava domes and blows them out so this suggests more fluid magma is getting into the system.

Good views today of the eruption. Of course Popo goes into a quieter mode but still erupting.

Inside Kilauea has developed a little cone...

Katla has been twitching quiet a bit lately and I'm surprised there isn't a comment on the Icelandic homepage about it.

There is an article about askja though

Hopefully with signals that a substantial magma plume is almost at surface level this sequence in the Reykjanes lasts for a good few weeks/months past the typical 'tourist season' as the darker nights begin to draw-in, allowing not only for better photography perspectives but for flight prices to become reasonably lower again. With potential threat of lava inundating the main coastal road between Keflavik & Reykjavik it might just 'put off' the typical seasonal tourist from visiting that part of Iceland... maybe that's wishful thinking on my part, but if/when this fissure erupts i'm putting serious thoughts to hopping on-to the next plane (ASAP) over to Iceland for a 3rd visit to the country.

The English Translation confuses a few words but the continual live updates are useful from RUV for keeping ahead of what's going on. It seems the Icelandic Volcanologists are now confident that the area between Keilir & Fagradalsfjall will be the place where the magma reaches the surface, if not hours then within a few days if the plume continues it's upwards trend (now at 0.5km).

It feels like a week i've been glued to the stream 😄 finally it's payed off and the predictions have been correct, flights at KEF are grounded for now and i'm trying to find some low-cost fares to get out there and see this one as it's likely a 2-week event given the amount of magma predicted beneath. No luck thus far unless I want to fork out £289 with a 15hr layover, or extend it into 4 days.

Would be great to see it in person. If you get there, you will have to share some photos on here.

I've bit the bullet and hoping things persist for another 2 weeks, i'm off to Iceland again on the 20th for 3 days at £299 direct 😄 i've seen plenty of volcanoes including Vesuvius, never seen one erupting before so it'll be a first-time experience.

Wow, good for you, a fantastic experience.  Really hope the magma is still bubbling forth when you go.

Visir.is was live at the eruption site not long ago with the Icelandic coastguard flying over it...

Looks like it’s calmed down quite a bit this morning. Hopefully it won’t stop too soon.

There's still plenty of magma (70kmq) beneath Litli Hrútur despite the outflow looking like it's tapering off, each volcano generally has it's own unique characteristics that we might be seeing the first trend of and it's too early yet to say what will happen with this one over the next week/month? in terms of outflow rate. There is still the possibility of further fissures rupturing if outflow becomes less than the material making it's way up. Dominant cone-building is a common trend with the Reykjanes Penninsular volcanoes so despite the unknowns it's still following a typical pattern.

Good news for 'tourists' or sightseers is that the trails have officially re-opened at 3pm today, it makes more sense to keep a eye on where people are going and to guide them, than having flocks of 'random joes' making their way across untrodden ground to avoid the restrictions.
