All is quiet this morning looks like it is over or taking a breather, gonna take this opportunity to sleep, maybe more by new year or xmas.

I reckon it will be in another location if it kicks off again, but we shall see.

Nightmare getting home yesterday, what should have been a 1hr 50min flight turned in-to nearly 10 hours of go-arounds and waiting at LGW but on the plus side I managed to see the sights of south Iceland including Eyjafjallajökull & Glaciers. Didn't see anything of this eruption other than 2 eruptive spatters and some lava-field smoke in the far distance.

It will need to fill up again so anything really from about 2 weeks minimum onwards I reckon unless something major occurs, but could be wrong; truth is, nobody knows else we would control our planet fully as a type 1 civilisation 🪐

Slow inflation continues so the next eruption a few weeks away at the present moment unless pressure is released somewhere else.

As above for us, missed the eruption entirely but had the jetstream making out flight time out longer and flight back shorter than normal.

Beautiful wintry experiences around the South Coast from -19 C to proper snow storms, just what the doctor ordered!

Does anyone have the link for the GPS uplift site for the area, I cannae find it?

I don't think they will have time, that is of course that the eruption takes place just north of Grindavik

the gps is on the threshold now nearly matching the previous eruption back on the 18th Dec.

Preliminary magnitude 4.3 close to the Krysuvik Geothermal Area at Lake Kleifarvatn, most likely a fault slip given the area is riddled with them on the surface-level. It could be what's needed to trigger something over at Svartsengi however, given that the December 18th eruption had similar indicators with the ground-uplift seeming to have stopped before the eruption began explosively 3 days later.

Having driven along the road to/from Lake Kleifarvatn I won't be too surprised to hear of any rockfalls in the area.
