Looking at the gps data uplift has resumed and most stations are at or above the previous levels and the eruption followed soon after.

Heading back out to Iceland will be using a vpn so i can connect easily and update you all, will try to get as close as i can to the lava and eruption site like last time to get some spectacular footage.

Hopefully catch up soon 👍 will be in and out of the forum but might not always be able to reply or update and depends on satellite connection

I assume the heated magma underneath melted some of the bottom layers or would it have just been the earthquake & friction that caused the melting process here because of molecule movement or something?

Unfortunately by sheer chance the fissure opened right over where the barrier was being built to protect the town, it's not looking good for Grindavik but thankfully evacuations were due today anyway as the police commissioner couldn't confidently say there wasn't more cracks forming within the town and wanted everyone (aside from first responders/contractors) out.

I won't be going to this eruption out of respect for the people of Grindavik, it's not the kind of Eruption for tourists to be gawking and taking pictures of (just in my opinion it morally doesn't feel right.) There's plenty of webcams and the Icelandic SAR Teams will provide plenty of images over the Eruptive duration.

Looks like the wall has been breached and the town is about to Fall in the next few hours, looks to be about half a click from the first houses.  Not looking good folks ☹️

They were literally metres away from the lava when they were running and likely the machines are hot and were steaming before they got there, unbelievable scenes at ground zero
