There are people in this photo of the eruption. http://omarragnarsso...mg/p1011626.jpg

Well spotted LadyP. I'm surprised they could either physically get that close, or were permitted to get that close. Are they really on the rim of the crater, or it it some odd foreshortening type of effect d'you think?

Very low cloud today but seems to be allowing ocassional glimpses of the glacier. She has her white dress freshly laundered after the snowfall overnight.

Just seen the plume on http://eldgos.mila.is/eyjafjallajokull-fra-hvolsvelli/ and it seems rather high.

As for the people close to the volcano you get an idea the danger they were in. http://tinyurl.com/39m5g3m

Very apt name by the way.

Just a coincidence. I have a day off today, so it got a bit late. The other coincidence is I own a Nightfire red Rover 800 and this is my nick on several other fora. ;-)Now I hardly dare to ask.....coldfingers? Edited by nightfire800

Haha!! Just the obvious, I have a thyroid problem and get very coldfingers in winter.

I wish that blasted mist would shift a bit, the lava flow seemed to be creeping down the glacier last night and I wanted to see how far down is steaming.

There does appear to be a bit more water flow-off though.

The clouds are bit more scattered now so I can see the plume. Noticeable but nowhere near as impressive as in the last couple of days!

Plume showing on the Mulakot webcam and starting to increase a bit in height again. I wonder quite how much the height is affected by winds pushing it sideways as it seems to always be windy in Iceland. A bit like Bognor, hardly ever know a calm day here.

Yes, the wind strength must make a difference! Any news on tremors/earthquakes today?

They all seem to be well down at the moment.

Ash plume on Mulakot now reaching top of screen so it does look like it could have intensified again.

Edit 19:12pm WOW. The plume now looks massive on the Mulkakot cam.

By the way, does anyone know the usual flow rate of the glacier?

Yes interesting that no flights have been cancelled. Volcano puffing away nicely tonight as well. A few more engines sucking ash what does that matter eh???

Looking at those charts no planes should be flying in Scotland surely? Or are these supposedly 'safe' limits?

Hvolsvelli cam showing plume way out of the screen now! So lots more ash to come.

This is all Aberdeen airport has to say about it:

'The volcanic ash cloud coming from Iceland continues to cause occasional disruption to air traffic around Europe.

All of BAA's airports are open, and normal schedules are in place. However, there may be delays to transatlantic services, and some airlines have cancelled flights.

Please contact your airline, or check its website for updates. We thank you for your patience.
