I'm not sure if the thunderstorm is intensifying or not, but if it is still, be aware if anyone is in the firing line, when it hit here, it was fairly severe. I wouldn't rule out the odd tornado out of this.

Looking at teh radar, it grw VERY quickly from nothing.

Could see some good showers about in the midlands later..

Current thinking is that this setup may allow several tornadoes over UK and Ireland, especially in the northern part of Ireland and Scotland where the temperature gradient near the cold front is maximized and upper level winds are perpendicular to the frontal boundary

Such heightened interest today :yahoo:

Good luck to everyone whos looking to get storms and under the tor watch area! Hope you all get what you want and those who hate this weather are able to avoid it totally.

Looks a little more positive for us up here now, we have some nice warm sunshine and temps are rising.

More showers moving towards here, just need them to beef up a bit!

I see that as well but put little stock in it as they had the light rain graphic last night and the rain was anything but light

anyway that's 36 hours away and the weather forecasts seem to be changing constantly

Indeed, Coventry just had its wettest day in over a year, mind you it only took 19mm!

Covs wettest day this year

Wettest areas yesterday/ today close to the Brecon Beacons where theres been over 70mm, half of that falling this morning!

Yeah,

Seems to be showing a lot of sferics currently from the stuff in wales / e-wales?

good sign considering the time...

VERY muggy outside, Even after the shower we just had, Its still very warm and moist..

Odd

Well that lump looks to be closing on Brum/ Cov area just now, would expect that to have thunder mixed in it. Some parts of the Midlands look in for a real soak this afternoon as downpours run NE along that line presently from Swansea to north Midlands. Expect localised flooding.

Strangely the NW lightning detector has had sferics over East Somerset/Wiltshire this morning. Quite why

I don't know because we're sat in the warm sector with low cloud, hill fog, high humidity (88%), 18.5c

and persistent drizzle and it's been that way since I got up at 06.00 lol !

We had thunder and lightening with very heavy rain about an hour ago. Now moving towards Brum.

That lump over you has weakened and will soon pass perhaps without thunder. The line through Brum stretching through Hereford and SE Wales is still lively, with probable developments south- east of this too.

An extra tool for those also interested in aircraft is HERE you will need to use firefox as IE is rubbish.

Usually you can zoom into an area and see the aircraft taking evasive action where storms are present.

There is also a weather layer, that shows basic local measurements when you hover your cursor over the cloud symbols.

Apologies if this has been linked before!

An impressive Cb cell by the looks of it, shows distinctly on the 1030 BST radar. Rotation in there possibly?
