UK Outlook for Wednesday 16 Nov 2011 to Friday 25 Nov 2011:

Generally dry and settled at the start of the period, although cloudier conditions in northeastern parts of the UK may bring mist or drizzle at times. Becoming more changeable, however, in the west, with spells of sometimes heavy rain and an increasing risk of gales by the weekend. Bands of rain will spread erratically eastwards through Friday and the weekend, reaching most parts by Sunday, although the far east may remain dry. The remainder of the outlook period favours winds with a southerly component, bringing rain and wind to most parts at times, though most frequently and locally heavy across northwestern areas. Temperatures are likely to be around normal or slightly above, especially in the west, but it could feel quite cold in the east at times.

UK Outlook for Thursday 17 Nov 2011 to Saturday 26 Nov 2011:

Much of the country will be dry at first but rain is expected in the far west and southwest, some of this quite heavy. Outbreaks of rain, often accompanied with strong winds, will gradually spread northeastwards to affect most parts by the end of the week, but far eastern areas should stay mostly dry. Little change is expected over the weekend, with spells of heavy rain most likely in the western half of the country. The rest of the period indicates that unsettled conditions are more likely in northwestern parts of the UK, with the best of any dry weather towards the southeast. Temperatures will stay mild at first but are expected to return to nearer normal by the end of the period, with a risk of patchy overnight frosts.

UK Outlook for Saturday 19 Nov 2011 to Monday 28 Nov 2011:

A northwest-southeast split looks favoured during this period, with the northwest generally milder, wetter and windier. Conditions towards the southeast are a little more uncertain, with the possibility of the unsettled conditions further west making inroads at times, however, drier, brighter but colder conditions are slightly favoured here. Spells of rain mainly affecting western parts, may occasionally turn heavy, particularly over south or southwest-facing ground in the exposed northwest. The rain will be coupled in parts of the west and especially northwest with a moderate risk of gales or perhaps even severe gales, particularly during the first half of the period. Temperatures should remain mainly mild in more unsettled western parts; these conditions perhaps occasionally extending to the east, although in general lower temperatures should accompany the drier conditions here.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 23 Nov 2011 to Friday 2 Dec 2011:

It will be a largely unsettled period across the bulk of the UK, with the wettest and windiest weather towards the northwest, with gales and spells of heavy rain most likely here. There will, however, still be some drier and more settled interludes, especially towards the southeast and particularly during the beginning of the period. UK Outlook for Friday 2 Dec 2011 to Sunday 11 Dec 2011:

Unsettled, particularly at first, with a continued risk of heavy rain and high winds, particularly further west and northwest, as deep Atlantic depressions run close to, or over the UK. A risk of seeing some snow over the higher ground of Scotland and perhaps also mountains further south for a time early next week. Temperatures often around average, but feeling colder given the strength of the wind, and a frost risk, especially in sheltered parts during quieter interludes. Towards the end of the period, a gradual transition to somewhat quieter conditions is expected, especially across southern parts of the UK, as temperatures recover to rather above normal. Given quieter weather, there will be an increased risk of widespread frost and fog.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 6 Dec 2011 to Thursday 15 Dec 2011:

An unsettled and windy start, with severe gales possible in the north and west. Further showers or longer spells of rain are likely for most with these heaviest and most likely towards the north and west also. Snow is likely at times over the hills of northern UK, with some significant snow likely for Scottish mountains with accumulations at lower levels possible here too. Temperatures will be largely below average, although they may be closer to average in the south. However, during the second half of the period there is an increasing signal for more settled conditions to become established particularly for southern and especially southwestern parts. Daytime temperatures should recover to around average, but some cold nights are still likely, with an increased risk of frost and fog.

UK Outlook for Thursday 8 Dec 2011 to Saturday 17 Dec 2011:

The unsettled weather is expected to continue through to the middle of December. Showers or longer spells of rain could affect many areas, but should be most frequent over the north and west of the UK. Snow is expected at times, mainly over high ground in Scotland and Northern England. There may be period of drier, more settled weather around next weekend for southern parts of the UK, although this will bring an increasing risk of fog and frost. Many areas will be colder than normal for the time of year, although southern counties should be nearer normal. However, some cold nights are still likely in all areas with a risk of frost. It will also be windy at times, with gales possible mainly in northern parts of the UK.

UK Outlook for Friday 9 Dec 2011 to Sunday 18 Dec 2011:

Friday is likely to see wintry showers in northern and western parts of the UK, whilst other areas will be largely dry and bright, but still cold. By next weekend much of the UK should be dry, although it will remain cold with overnight frost and fog likely. There is likely to be a gradual return to unsettled weather in northwest parts of the British Isles during the following week, with rain spreading in from the west, this possibly falling as snow on high ground. Southern and eastern areas are more likely to see a continuation of the mostly dry, settled conditions although it may remain cold with a risk of fog and frost. There may be gales at times, most likely in the north and west of the UK.
