UK Outlook for Friday 20 Oct 2017 to Sunday 29 Oct 2017:

Although confidence in detail is low for this period, there is relatively high confidence in unsettled conditions being dominant. Friday and into next weekend looks likely to be unsettled with spells of wet and windy weather bringing a risk of gales for all parts, especially in the west and southwest. There will be some drier and brighter interludes although these will likely be rather short-lived. Through the following week and the end of this period, the unsettled theme is set to continue with spells of wind and rain, interspersed by some drier and brighter, settled spells. The wettest and windiest conditions are most likely in the north and west. Temperatures will remain just above normal throughout, but with the chance of some chilly nights in any settled spells.

UK Outlook for Saturday 21 Oct 2017 to Monday 30 Oct 2017:

Next weekend looks like being very unsettled with wet and very windy weather likely to affect most parts of the UK. This will bring the risk of gales or severe gales, particularly across the west and southwest, although there remains some uncertainty over the extent of these. The following week looks set to remain unsettled, with further periods of wet and windy weather, however it is possible that there will be some longer spells of drier and brighter weather in between, most likely across the southeast. This may lead to more settled conditions towards the end of the month. Temperatures will be close to normal at first, before becoming slightly warmer towards the end of the month, although with an increased risk of chilly nights in more settled spells.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 31 Oct 2017 to Tuesday 14 Nov 2017:

As we head into the start in November, a changeable pattern is most likely at first bringing spells of wet and windy weather, interspersed with some drier and brighter interludes. The most unsettled weather is likely across the north and west, with the south and east often drier and brighter. These drier conditions may become more prolonged as we head through the first week of November, bringing an increased chance of frost and fog overnight. However, the northwest may remain more unsettled, leading to a more general northwest/southeast split by mid month, with the wettest and windiest weather in the northwest. Temperatures are likely to stay close to normal, although it may be cooler than normal where settled spells are prolonged.

UK Outlook for Sunday 22 Oct 2017 to Tuesday 31 Oct 2017:

Next Sunday will likely see an unsettled start, with wet weather clearing to the east, leaving a mix of sunshine and blustery showers for the rest of the day. The following week looks set to remain unsettled, with further periods of wet and windy weather, especially in the north and west. However, it is possible that there will be some longer spells of drier and brighter weather in between, most likely across the southeast. This may lead to more settled conditions towards the end of the month, although there remains some uncertainty. Temperatures will vary around normal through Sunday and Monday, before becoming slightly warmer through the rest of next week. There is an increased risk of chilly nights in any more settled spells.

UK Outlook for Monday 23 Oct 2017 to Wednesday 1 Nov 2017:

After a dry start in the southeast, most of the UK is expected to have outbreaks of rain on Monday and Tuesday, which could be heavy and persistent on western hills. Brighter showery weather may spread into northwestern parts at times. Temperatures are expected to be above normal for the time of year, and perhaps warm in some eastern parts. Later in the week, the southeast will have a greater chance of drier weather but it will probably stay rather wet and windy in the northwest. There could well be a calmer period of weather towards the end of the month with rain and strong winds less frequent than recently. This would bring more sunshine but an increased risk of chilly nights, and overnight fog for some.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 24 Oct 2017 to Thursday 2 Nov 2017:

Tuesday and Wednesday look generally rather windy with gales possible in exposed areas, especially in the northwest. There will be showers or longer spells of rain for many, perhaps persistent in the south. Confidence in the forecast reduces during the remainder of October into early November. However, a northwest to southeast split is most likely. The northwest should continue with some wet and windy weather interspersed by brief brighter, showery interludes, whilst the southeast will be best placed to have more prolonged drier spells. Temperatures are most likely to be slightly above normal. Having said this there is a chance of more settled, colder conditions becoming established with morning fog patches, especially in the south.

UK Outlook for Friday 3 Nov 2017 to Friday 17 Nov 2017:

Confidence in the forecast during this period is very low. However, on balance it appears that the early part of November will most likely be changeable with near average temperatures. There is an increasing chance of more prolonged settled spells developing by the end of the first week of November, which may continue into mid month, especially in the south. This would lead to an increased chance of frost and fog. However, northern areas could hold onto more in the way of wind and rain at times. Temperatures should stay mostly near or perhaps slightly above average, although probably dipping to below average in any more settled spells.

I note with typical disgust how the longer term forecast-pattern trends towards warmer wetter regime's as we head through October: Man Alive, this has happened for every one of the last five Octobers (which includes this one)!!!

UK Outlook for Wednesday 25 Oct 2017 to Friday 3 Nov 2017:

A little rain possible at first in the south on Wednesday, but this tending to peter out, leaving more in the way of drier weather for much of the UK, compared to the start of the week. Temperatures will also be on the warm side, with some mild nights too. Through next weekend, a more unsettled theme seems likely, especially in the northwest, where strong winds will bring a mixture of rain followed by brighter, showery interludes. Further southeast it should remain drier, though some rain is possible here too. Into early November, confidence in the forecast becomes very low, with a changeable theme and near average temperatures seeming most likely. Northern areas look most likely to see further wind and rain at times, with drier conditions in the south.

UK Outlook for Thursday 26 Oct 2017 to Saturday 4 Nov 2017:

The north and northwest will be cloudy and windy on Thursday with rain at times, and rain may affect other western areas for a time on Friday. Elsewhere it will be a mostly dry end to the week, with southern and southeastern parts seeing the best of any sunshine, although some stubborn overnight fog patches are also possible here. Temperatures will generally be above average and it could become very warm in these sunnier areas. Thereafter the weather is generally expected to become less settled. The north and northwest should see the wettest and windiest of the weather though, with some drier spells expected to develop towards the southeast. Temperatures are most likely to start above normal, although could trend downwards through the period.

UK Outlook for Sunday 5 Nov 2017 to Sunday 19 Nov 2017:

There is an increasing chance that the weather will become more settled during this period, especially across southern parts of the British Isles. As a result frost and fog could become more likely. The north may continue to have more unsettled conditions though. Temperatures are most likely to be near or slightly above average, although probably below normal in some of the more settled spells, especially where any overnight fog proves slow to clear.

UK Outlook for Friday 27 Oct 2017 to Sunday 5 Nov 2017:

On Friday, cloud and rain across central or northern parts will move southeastwards, probably clearing southeast England later, or early on Saturday, after a mostly fine start here. Brighter, showery weather will follow from the northwest, although another band of rain may move eastwards across Britain on Saturday. It will be breezy, with gales possible in the north, and temperatures will return towards average after a warm start in the south. Thereafter the weather is likely to become generally unsettled and sometimes windy, with rainbands crossing eastwards over the country, interspersed by brighter, showery conditions. The northwest can expect the wettest and windiest weather. However, there is a low chance of drier, more settled weather developing from the west later. Temperatures will trend down to slightly below normal.

UK Outlook for Saturday 28 Oct 2017 to Monday 6 Nov 2017:

The weekend will be mainly dry and bright in the south and west but cloudier with rain or showers in the north and east. It will be breezy, with gales possible in the north. Temperatures will be lower than this week, perhaps bringing overnight frost in places. Next week the weather is likely to become changeable again and sometimes windy, with rain bands crossing the country, interspersed by brighter, showery weather. The north is likely to get the wettest and windiest weather. It will probably become a good deal colder than of late, bringing an increased risk of early morning frosts across the country. There is also a chance of snow over high ground in Scotland, and perhaps at lower levels in the far north as the wind turns northerly.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 1 Nov 2017 to Friday 10 Nov 2017:

November will begin fairly cloudy with Wednesday seeing outbreaks of rain and drizzle in the north and west, with the best of any brightness likely in the south and east. It may turn windier from the north on Thursday with blustery showers, these perhaps wintry over northern hills. A mixed weather pattern may continue through early November with outbreaks of rain, heaviest in the northwest, slowly crossing the UK, followed by brighter and showery conditions. It is likely to remain rather cold with occasional frosts overnight. By the end of the first week there is an increasing chance that the weather may become more settled, with longer spells of drier and brighter weather. However, this will bring the risk of more widespread overnight frost and fog, particularly in the south.

UK Outlook for Saturday 11 Nov 2017 to Saturday 25 Nov 2017:

As we head towards the middle of November the weather will probably remain mainly settled, particularly across southern parts of the UK. This will bring plenty of fine and dry weather, but with a chance of frost and fog overnight. The north may well continue to see changeable conditions at times, with spells of rain, but also some drier interludes as well. Later in the month, it is possible that the weather will become more unsettled again bringing outbreaks of rain and strong winds, especially in the northwest. Temperatures will be close to normal for many, although under any prolonged settled spells they may be slightly colder than normal.
