Ah cheers guys, atleast I will be close enough to maybe go to higher ground if given the chance to see some snow there! :) As for now, we can only watch as Scotland and N.England get the snow, maybe parts of N.Wales later!

Yes, you'll have the Cambrian mountains to the east and on a clear day you can see the Snowdonia national park mountains to the north from certain parts of Aber - so you are kind of surrounded!

Yeah it will be really nice, when there on the open day it was a beautiful area, much better than Bridgend! Loved the views with the mountains, as have never lived in an area with a view of mountains before! Im sure it can't do any worse than Bridgend for snow though as most years we are lucky to get more than 5inches, last year when we had 7-9inches in places was the most I have seen here in the 12 years i've been here!!

Raining in Flintshire but the temperature has dropped from 7.1c to 3.9c and there's some hail mixed with the rain. Looks good for snow higher up, I'm just above sea level.

Heavy rain & hail here at the moment, with some proper squally gusts. Hoping to get something wintry tomorrow but at least the weather is interesting in the meantime. Snowdon cams looking good.

Edit: Think that must've been a weak cold front moving down, precip was heavy & temp. has dropped over 2c in the last 25mins or so, 3.9c here now, dp 1.8.

Afternoon all, apparently its snowing in Newtown Powys!!

I'll keep an eye out to the north then!

I'm surprised though as it's still pretty warm here and not too far from Newtown. Cambrian tops to the west of me (500-600m asl) are obscured in some white looking cloud that may or may not be snow.

Hi im in Wales at the moment staying in dolwydellan near betwys-y-coed. Was driving over the pen-y-pass earlier and a layer of hail accumulated on the road and snow was clearly settling on the higher mountains. Also just been to check out Y Garn which we are climbing tomorrow, and wet snow has been falling to around 200m at times, settling at over about 500m. Been such a wet day today I was expecting some sun between showers but none at all. Going to be a toug climb up Y Garn tomorrow in the snow and windchill at about -17 around the summit! Loving Wales it's the first time i've ever been.

Hope you have a good time, but be prepared for some extreme conditions. Y Garn can be an immensely tricky climb at times, even moreso when there's snow and ice around.

Here's to wishing you a safe adventure.

country tracks forecast gave a possibility of showers making their way south east turning to snow in mid & south Wales overnight. Some of us may get a dusting. Not holding out too much hope here though.

The end of the week looks interesting too as the models have been suggesting. Long way off though.

at least we have something interesting after the joint warmest autumn on record here in Wales

Thanks, it's probably going to be the most difficult climb i've done but if things are getting too difficult we'll have to turn back but we are well prepared.

A slight downgrade but the 9am charts look a little better. There will be showers tonight, and there will be some snow/wintriness, but how wintry and how much penetration there is from the North and Western coasts, is still up for debate.

We'll know by this time tomorrow, retrospective weather forecasting is much easier (and safer)

NW radar shows sleet over here (and most of the north half of Powys) at the moment but no sign of any precip that I can see. Will keep an eye out though!

Indeed, just finished looking at the latest NAE data from the 12Z and my thoughts are also the same as i posted earlier. It will be interesting to see how it all goes.

Current temp here is 5.4C.

Met office not mentioning anything at all interesting for Wales over the next few days nor indeed towards the end of the year. My father in law has said that he's concerned with a mild start to the winter as it often leads to a cold and snowy second half. Any comments? We've had a couple of cracking winters, but so far this one is looking like a David Cameron-esque "damp squib".

I wouldn't say a 'damp squib'... It's only early December and already we have a north westerly producing showers of rain, sleet and snow. Last year was a very one off, and remember that most of the snow was only before christmas.

We usually get most of our snow in Wales in Jan or Feb so there's loads of time yet.

Sleet shower here at the moment - still about 80% rain to 20% snow & ice though. Temp is 4.0c & dp 1.7c so no chance of anything sticking even if it was more snowy. The night is yet young though... NW radar shows increasing amounts of pink (snow) over Snowdonia so maybe will make its way down here later.

Current temp 5.1C with a dp of 2C, only dropping slowly atm, hope to atleast get a proper frost at some time over the next few days!

Showers are coming in much snowier now, prob about 50-50 I think it's tricky in the dark as you can only see the snowy bits and not the rainy bits. Amount of pink (snowfall) on the NW radar is still increasing across Mid & North Wales. Now if only the DP would drop, 1.5c currently, air temp 3.8c.
