Fair for much of central Europe, rain to the far north

Tuesday


The settled weather pattern continues across most of Europe today with dry weather and sunny spells extending all the way from Spain across into France, Germany, Poland eastward through the Baltic States, all western Russia and the Ukraine. Most of Finland will also be dry today. Apart from some snow showers around north western coasts of Norway. Heavy outbreaks of snow are forecast for northern Russia. Much more unsettled across southeast Europe. Outbreaks of rain will affect Greece with some sleet and snow in the north and across Bulgaria. Heavy showers are forecast south of Greece and eastward across Crete into Cyprus and western Turkey with snow showers across eastern Turkey. Most of Italy today should be dry with occasional showers from the Balearics towards Sicily. A dry day to come with sunny spells across England, Belgium, Holland and Denmark. Most of the Adriatic Region and the rest of the Balkans will also be fair and dry. The strong easterly winds will continue to blow through the Straits of Gibraltar.

Wednesday


A fair day through Portugal with good spells of sunshine on Wednesday. There is a risk of some showers in more eastern parts of Spain, and these could be heavy at times. Heavy showers in the Balearics too. Dry and fair for Italy with sunny spells here. More sunshine for Greece, although some showers affecting central and northern Turkey. A fine day across France with more sunshine here. Staying dry with sunny spells for the Low Countries and Germany as well as Poland. Fair for most of Austria, Hungary and Switzerland. High pressure brings another fair day to the UK and Ireland. Denmark will be staying dry with sunny spells. Dry too across the Baltic States. Cloud and some rain in central and northern Norway and Sweden. Some rain affecting Finland, where it will be breezy too.

High pressure dominant across Europe

Wednesday


Warm sunshine today for Portugal and much of Spain. Breezy and the risk of catching a thundery shower on the south coast of Spain and in the Balearics. Italy is also dry with plenty of sunshine, again with the risk of a shower in the south. One or two showers in Greece and Turkey along with a fresh northerly breeze, but also plenty of dry, sunny weather. High pressure positioned over central Europe brings extensive dry weather, with lots of sunshine. Mild temperatures in France, Germany and Denmark, whilst the fine weather extends through the Alps in Switzerland and Austria. A brisk westerly breeze in Norway brings rain and snow to the northern coast. Also breezy but dry in Sweden and Finland.

Thursday


High pressure continues to bring plenty of dry weather to continental Europe on Thursday. Again there is the risk of some thundery showers in the south of Spain, but much of Iberia is dry with sunshine. Dry with light winds in Italy. Plenty of sunshine for Greece and Turkey, although breezy. France, Switzerland, Austria and Germany also continue to see dry and sunny conditions and it will feel mild. Breezy across Scandinavia, with a cold front bringing rain and snow to the north and west of Norway, strong winds in the far north. Rain also spreads into northern Sweden and Finland.

High pressure continues to bring plenty of dry weather to continental Europe on Thursday. Thundery showers in the south of Spain and also the Balearics. Drier in central and northern Spain and Portugal with sunshine, the risk of a few showers later. Italy and Greece are also dry with sunshine. Turkey is breezy with one or two showers. France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria also continue to see dry and sunny conditions and it will feel mild. Also dry in eastern Europe. Breezy across Scandinavia, with a cold front bringing rain and snow to the north and west of Norway, strong winds in the far north. Rain also spreads into northern Sweden and Finland.

Friday

Dry and mild across England and France with sunny spells. Sunny and pleasantly warm across Portugal and Spain today and sunny across the Balearics. More cloudy across Belgium and Holland but mainly dry. Outbreaks of rain are expected across much of Germany, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic. Rain will be heavy across Poland and the Czech Republic. Fair and dry weather is expected across the Adriatic Region down across Greece, Albania and Bulgaria. Cold with outbreaks of heavy snow forecast across the far south of Finland, across the Baltic States, Belarus, Russia, and northern parts of the Ukraine. Cloudy with a mix of rain and snow across Romania today. Most of Sweden should be fair and dry with some sunshine while snow is expected across Norway. A dry and mostly sunny day expected across Italy. Western parts of Turkey will see some outbreaks of rain with east staying dry. Gales will affect central parts of Europe. Quite mild today from Iberia across through Italy and the Adriatic Region. Showers are forecast across the United Kingdom with an area of rain from northern Germany into Holland, Denmark, Belgium and the northern half of France to northwest Spain and northern Portugal. Dry across southern Germany, southern France and most of Spain and the Balearics. A windy day across north eastern parts of Europe. Snow showers will affect western parts of Norway with outbreaks of snow across northern Sweden and northern parts of Finland into northern Russia. The rest of Norway and Sweden be dry with rain across southern Finland. Fair and dry across southern Russia across the Baltic States into Belarus, Poland and Ukraine. Fine day to come across much of the Balkans and the Adriatic region with sunny skies expected across Turkey and Greece. Apart from the odd isolated shower, much of Italy should be dry with a few heavy showers possible around Corsica and Sardinia.

A dry and bright day for much of Spain and Portugal. A few showers affect the Biscay coast of northern Spain, with snow over the Pyrenees. Showers are extensive across much of France, and also the Balearics. Low pressure centred over northern Italy brings unsettled conditions to central and southern Europe with brisk winds and heavy rain. Southern Italy may remain dry, but heavy spells of rain in the north. Heavy snow over the Alps in Switzerland and Austria. Rain extends into southern Germany and the Czech Republic, with patchy rain also in Poland. A few showers in the Low Countries, whilst northern Germany is drier with some sunshine. Very unsettled across much of Europe today. Outbreaks of rain are expected across Britain, most of France and northern Spain. Just a few showers to come today across Belgium and Holland with more in the way showers expected across Germany along with some sunny spells. An area of heavy rain will extend across northern Poland into the Baltic States with a few showers across southern Poland. It will be quite a windy day throughout the Mediterranean with an area of heavy rain and showers expected from the Balearics eastward across Corsica, Sardinia into parts of Italy. A number showers are expected across the Adriatic Region. Much of central and eastern Turkey should be fair and dry with sunny spells. Expect some heavy showers across the west and these will extend up across Bulgaria into Romania with a few widely scattered showers as well across Greece. Most of the Ukraine should be fair and dry as will Belarus and most of western Russia. Rather cold and dry with sunny spells across Finland, Norway and Sweden.

A slow moving cold front brings continued heavy rain during Tuesday in western Spain and Portugal which may produce localised flash flooding. However eastern and southern Spain will remain dry and warm. Fine conditions extend across the Balearics, southern France and Italy and it will feel warm. High pressure centred in the central Mediterranean will bring plenty of warm sunshine to southern Italy, Greece and Turkey. A southerly breeze will bring warm conditions to central and northern France, but the risk of some thundery showers developing by the afternoon. Switzerland and Austria are generally dry, with the risk of isolated showers in the afternoon. Germany may remain persistently cloudy, with showery rain in the west of Germany and the Low Countries. High pressure also centred over Scandinavia brings fair weather to Norway, Sweden and Denmark, although a few light wintry showers may affect Finland and the Baltic states.

Wednesday


Rain continues to affect Portugal and Spain, extending further east during the day, although the eastern Costas and Balearics may stay dry for much of the day. Italy is mostly dry with sunshine, although a few heavy showers may break out in the Alps, including Switzerland and Austria. Showery rain in western Greece and the Balkan states, but drier further east, with sunshine in Turkey. France will be very warm with sunshine and a few isolated thundery showers.
